Wu (35 years old) has encountered numerous misfortunes, with emotional depression and stagnation. There is a combination of labor-induced injury and exogenous pathogenic invasion. In treating the pathological deficiency, care must be taken to protect the body's resistance and avoid exposing it to Wind and Cold pathogens; therefore, expelling evil should be done lightly.
*Forsythiae Fructus* (Lianqiao), *Talcum* (Fei Huashi), *Trichosanthis Radix* (Huafen), *Amomi Fructus Rotundus* (Baikouren), *Platycodonis Radix* (Jiegeng), *Pruni Semen* (Xingren), *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Juhong), *Aurantii Fructus Immaturus* (Zhiqiao).
Zhang (boatman, 33 years old) suffered from Qi damage and heat pressure due to running and shouting under the scorching sun. The treatment should preserve Stomach Yin to nourish Lung Metal and benefit Kidney Yin to consolidate the root.

Preserving Stomach Yin is essentially benefiting Kidney Yin, which can be seen from the prescription.
Chen (20 years old) experienced blood loss during spring and summer in his youth, recurring at the same time the following year. This indicates internal Yin deficiency that fails to recover. Frequent recurrences will be fatal. Medication must not impair Stomach appetite.
*Liuwei Dihuang Wan* (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) added with *Ophiopogonis Tuber* (Maidong), *Schisandrae Fructus* (Wuweizi), and *Calcinatum Urinae Hominis* (Qiushi).
Zhang (Tongqiao, 52 years old) has suffered from dysentery for three years.
*Liyin Jian* (Decoction for Nourishing Yin)
Shen (Tanglou, 45 years old) The tongue is the sprout of the Heart, and the Kidney meridian connects to it. Swelling and hardness under the tongue with unnatural extension and retraction indicate excessive self-rising of Heart Yang and hidden consumption of Kidney Yin. Visceral fluids are deficient. Clearing heat and reducing swelling is useless; one should frequently take *Dabu Yin Wan* (Great Tonification of Yin Pill). (When the lamp fire is strong, the oil in the saucer dries up easily; when Heart Fire is hyperactive, Kidney Water is easily consumed. This is because Yin Essence must support the Heart Fire below.)
Chen (Guanshang, 19 years old) Consumption of melon water and acrid-cold substances damaged Yang, resulting in thirst, diarrhea, and abdominal borborygmus.
*Caryophylli Cacumen* (Gong Dingxiangbing), *Terminalia Chebulae Fructus* (Hezipi), *Cinnamomi Cortex* (Guangui), *Aucklandiae Radix* (Sheng Guangmuxiang), *Poria* (Fushen), *Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum* (Paohaijiang), *Atractylodis Rhizoma* (Maoshu), *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Xinhuiqi), *Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex* (Nouhou).
Warming the middle and astringing, drying dampness and unblocking Yang, all methods are complete.
Ye (27 years old) This is long-term diarrhea causing Yin loss due to Kidney damage. During the summer heat, hot qi was inhaled from above, leading to Qi damage and intense heat. Symptoms include hoarseness and profuse phlegm. With dry water and withered metal, this is no minor ailment. Abstain from sexual desire to consolidate the lower jiao, avoid disturbance to calm the mind, and hope for recovery once Jing-Qi revives. (Metal is nourished by Water; the mother hides in the fetus. When water is exhausted, metal inevitably withers. In consumptive diseases where Kidney Essence is internally seized, death often follows hoarseness, which aligns with this reasoning.)
*Rehmanniae Radix Preparata* (Shudi Tan), *Dolichi Lablabis Semen Album* (Sheng Baibidou), *Ginseng Radix* (Renshen), *Poria cum Wood* (Fushen), *Dendrobii Caulis* (Chuanshihu), *Ligustri Lucidi Fructus* (Nvzhenzi).
Wang did not suffer from blood loss but was affected solely by seasonal dampness, allowing the illness to subside. Whenever the Six Qi have an excess, there is a counteraction; after dampness is removed, dryness inevitably arrives. New autumn violent heat scorches fluids. For now, nourish Stomach Yin; after White Dew, a pill prescription can be formulated. (Insight and courage are both outstanding.)
