The practice method is based on breath retention (Bi Qi). It should be performed after midnight, when the vital energy (Sheng Qi) begins to stir. Expel turbid qi (Zhuo Qi) through the mouth and inhale clear qi (Qing Qi) through the nose. Perform this once between Zi hour (11 PM - 1 AM) and Wu hour (11 AM - 1 PM).
First, dispel all thoughts and worries. Close your eyes and calm your mind (Ming Xin). Sit in a cross-legged posture (Pan Fu), hold your hands in the "firm grip" (Wo Gu) position, and concentrate your spirit (Ji Shen). Then, tap your teeth thirty-six times. Next, extend both hands behind your neck and breathe nine times, ensuring no sound is heard by your ears. Then, place the palms of your hands over your ears. Press the index finger against the middle finger and flick the back of your head, doing this twenty-four times on each side. Shake your head looking left and right, and rotate your shoulders, following the movement for twenty-four repetitions. Stir your tongue around your teeth, moving it left and right thirty-six times. When saliva fills your mouth, rinse your mouth thirty-six times, then swallow in three portions, making a distinct swallowing sound. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, "Dragon" refers to saliva/fluids, and "Tiger" refers to Qi. When fluids move, Qi naturally rushes forth. Inhale clear air through the nose and retain the breath for a moment. Rub your hands until they are extremely hot, then gently release the breath. The area behind the waist, corresponding to the external kidneys, is the gate of essence (Jing Men). Rub the back of the kidneys with your heated palms thirty-six times. Return your hands forward into the firm grip position, close your mouth and nose, and visualize heart fire (Xin Huo) burning down into the Dantian (Elixir Field) until you feel intense heat. Bow your head and sway your left shoulder thirty-six times, then your right shoulder thirty-six times. Visualize the fire penetrating from the Dantian through the Shuang Guan points (Guanyuan and Qihai) into the Naohu point at the base of the skull. Inhale clear air through the nose, retain the breath briefly, then straighten your legs. Cross your hands and push upwards towards the sky, pressing against the crown of your head nine times each.
Then lower your hands and reach forward to grasp your soles twelve times. Bring your feet back to a seated upright position. Wait for saliva to accumulate in the mouth; this is referred to as "reverse water rising." If no saliva is produced, repeat the rinsing and swallowing process three times as described before. The resulting divine fluid (Shen Shui) should be swallowed in nine portions total. Swallowing with a sound ensures that the hundred meridians (Bai Mai) become smooth and unobstructed. Sway your shoulders and body twenty-four times, then rotate your body like a winch (Lu Lu) twenty-four times. Retain your breath and visualize the fire in the Dantian burning up and spreading throughout the body. This eliminates evil influences and calms dreams, preventing cold, heat, disasters, and diseases from entering, thus harmonizing with Heaven and Earth (Qian Kun).
(Poem)
Close your eyes and calm your mind while sitting, hold the firm grip to quiet the spirit.
Tap the teeth thirty-six times, embrace the Kunlun (back of the head) with both hands.
Ring the heavenly drum on both sides, hearing it twenty-four times.
Gently sway the Tian Zhu (neck/spine), let the red dragon (tongue) stir the water (saliva).
Rinse with thirty-six swallows, letting the divine fluid fill the mouth evenly.
Swallow one mouthful in three parts; as the dragon moves, the tiger runs.
Retain breath and rub hands hot, massage the rear Jing Gate on the back.
Exhale this single breath, imagine fire burning the navel wheel (Dantian).
Rotate left and right like a winch, stretch out both legs comfortably.
Cross hands and push up into the void, bow down and climb feet frequently.
Wait for the reverse water to rise, rinse and swallow again.
Complete this three times, swallow the divine fluid nine times in total.
Swallow with a sound, and the hundred meridians will naturally balance.
After the He Che (River Cart) transport is finished, ignite the fire to burn the whole body.
Evil spirits dare not approach, dreams will not cause confusion, cold and heat cannot enter, disasters and diseases cannot harm.
Practice after Zi hour and before Wu hour, creating harmony with Heaven and Earth.
Cycle through the sequence, the Eight Trigrams (Ba Gua) are the good cause.
