Infant gan sore (nutritional deficiency ulcer with erosion), if perforated, use the inner membrane of a chicken egg to wrap one live mole cricket (Tugou), place it inside the mouth of a large toad, bind with grass and seal with mud. Leave overnight, then remove, grind into powder, and apply topically until healed. (From *Puji Fang*)
For all initial-stage swellings and toxic sores, application causes immediate reduction in swelling. For established cases, application prevents the spread of toxic factors to other areas. Whether pus is present or not, un-ulcerated lesions are promoted to ulcerate, and ulcerated lesions are promoted to drain pus. Formula: Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang) and stir-fried Chen Xiaofen (each 1 liang), Hibiscus mutabilis leaves harvested on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, Rhizoma Curcumae Longae (Jianghuang), Radix Platycodonis (Bailian), Rhizoma Bletillae Striatae (Baiji), Fructus Terminaliae Chebulae (Wubeizi) (each 5 qian), and crab shell (5 pieces). Grind all into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply as a ring around the lesion. (From *Yifang Jie*)
Another formula: Use Chen Xiaofen (8 liang), Strychnos nux-vomica (Fan Mubie), Adzuki bean (Chi Xiaodou) (each 2 liang), Arisaema cum Bile (Nanxing), Pinellia ternata (Banxia) (each 1 liang), and Aconitum carmichaelii lateral root prepared (Caowu) (5 qian). Grind all into powder. Stir-fry until purple, place on the ground to dissipate fire heat, mix with vinegar, and apply to the affected area. Re-moisten when dry for effective results. (From *Danfang Huibian*)
Calcined copper sulfate (Chengdanshi, 2 liang, stir-fried to pinkish-red), Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang), Fructus Terminaliae Chebulae (Wubeizi) (each 1 liang). Grind into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply. (From *Jingyan Guangji*)
For carbuncle and furuncle on the back (Yongju Fabei), during the pre-ulcerative or impending ulcerative stage, where pain is severe like being pierced by an awl, use Hibiscus flower, leaves, bark, or roots. Either crush fresh or grind dried material, mix with white honey, and apply around the four sides, leaving the center (head) open. Change frequently when dry to achieve immediate pain relief. (Same source)
For carbuncle and furuncle on the back, beating injuries, and snake bites, use Impatiens balsamina (Fengxianhua) including roots, stems, and leaves. Crush thoroughly and apply to the affected area. Change once daily. (Same source)
For swollen toxic sores and malignant ulcers, use leaves of *Triadica sebifera* (Wutongye/Wuye - note: text says Wu Ye, likely referring to Wutong or similar local herb, here translated generally as Wu Ye leaf) crushed into a paste, and apply to the affected area. Do not use if the wound is already broken. (Same source)
For all malignant toxic sores such as duikou fa bei, use crucian carp (guts and scales removed) and fresh Dioscorea opposita (Shanyao) (length equal to the fish). Crush together and apply; healing occurs immediately. (Same source)
For sores where pus has matured but has not ulcerated, use Stool of White Sparrow (Baidingxiang), Semen Crotonis Tiglii (Badou, stir-fried until charred), Alkali (Jian) (each 5 fen), and Resina Boswelliae (Ruxiang) (2 fen). Grind all into powder. Mix with hot water, apply dropwise to the sore opening, and moisten with alkali water when dry. (From *Zhongfutang Fang*)
