Pregnant women at five to six months of gestation, with an abnormally enlarged abdomen that rises above the heart and chest, suffer from fluid accumulation in the fetus. If untreated, both mother and child are at risk. This formula is indicated for this condition.
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (wine-washed, 1.5 qian), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) (1.5 qian), Bai Fuling (Poria) (2 qian), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (stir-fried, 2.5 qian), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) (0.3 qian). Take one carp weighing over half a jin, remove scales and entrails, boil in plain water until cooked, discard the fish meat and retain two cups of fish broth. Add three slices of fresh ginger, and decoct slowly with the aforementioned herbs until one cup remains.

Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini) (stir-fried, 2 liang) and Wine (1.5 jin). Melt by boiling and take orally. Huangming Jiao (Colla Corii Asini, yellow variety) may also be used.
To treat dysentery in pregnant women:
Jizi (Galli Ovum / Chicken Egg) (one egg). Break the top, remove the white, keep the yolk. Add 1 qian of Huangdan (Lithargyrum / Lead Monoxide), mix evenly, seal the opening, fix with salt mud, and roast on fire until the mud is dry. Remove and grind into powder.
Baiguijia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis / Turtle Shell) roasted with rice vinegar and ground into powder; mix with liquid and take orally for self-healing.
Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri Amurensis) (mixed with honey, stir-fried until scorched, ground into powder) and Suan (Allium Sativum / Garlic) (roasted until soft, peeled). Pound these two ingredients into pills the size of tung seeds. Take thirty to fifty pills on an empty stomach with millet gruel broth, three times a day.
To treat fetal crying in the womb during pregnancy:
Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis) (2 qian) and Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis) (1 qian). Decoct in water and take orally for immediate relief.

In summer, add Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis). Pregnant women at eight to nine months should take dozens of doses. It provides strength for easier delivery and is superior to Shoutai San (Slimming Fetus Powder).
