Gao Sifa's prescription.
Apply a paste made by mixing the juice of *Jiandao Cao* (Scissors Grass, i.e., Colocasia esculenta leaf) with Ge Fen (Concha Meretricis et Cyprinae) to the affected area.
Prescription passed down by Xiao Si's nephew.
Take three Wushao She (Zaocys dhumnades), process them thoroughly until clean, steam and boil until cooked, remove the bones, take out the meat, dry it by baking, and grind it into a fine powder. Use aged steamed bread pills (Xuzheng Bing Yuan) to form pellets the size of rice grains, and feed them to black-bone chickens. After the chickens have consumed the equivalent of three snakes' worth of meat, cook the chicken, grind its meat into powder. This can be taken as either pellets or powder, administered with wine. When making pellets, still use aged steamed bread. Take 30-50 pellets per dose; for severe cases, recovery occurs after consuming no more than three chickens. ("Yuan" refers to medicinal pills; the character "Wan" was avoided due to imperial taboo, so "Yuan" is used instead).
Shenxian Tui Feng Dan (Divine Wind-Expelling Pill) for treating Da Feng Ji (Leprosy/Morbus Leprae), from Huagong Shi's prescription. Additional ingredients:
Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus), Wu Mei Rou (Semen Pruni Mume), Haitong Pi (Corylariis Cortex), Jinmao Gouji (Dryopteris crassirhizoma Rhizoma, remove hairs).
Grind the above herbs into a fine powder in equal proportions. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach at noon and before bedtime daily. Additionally, upon falling asleep for the first time each night, urgently take 30 pills from beside the head and ingest them immediately, washed down with the natural juice of Yangti Gen (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma). Strictly avoid alcohol and sexual intercourse, and all foods that induce wind pathogenic factors. Consume only bland congee for 100 days; the skin and flesh will gradually return to normal. After half a year, no dietary restrictions are necessary. During medication, one or two trustworthy individuals must stay awake by the patient's bedside every night. As soon as the patient falls asleep for the first time, help them up to take the dose. The efficacy lies here. Huagong Shi personally witnessed Lin Chengwu, named Quji, achieve success with this prescription. There is nothing more miraculous for treating Da Feng Ji than this. If one cannot observe the contraindications, it is likely to be of no benefit.
Sheng Pishuang (Realgar/Orpiment? Note: Historically Arsenic minerals, often Realgar or Orpiment, but strictly Sheng Pishuang usually refers to raw arsenic trioxide or similar toxic mineral preparations in ancient texts, though contextually often confused with Realgar/Orpiment mixtures. In modern WHO terms, caution is advised. Here translated literally as Raw Arsenic Mineral Powder), Bai Fan (Alumen), Ni Fan (Vitriol/Natural Alum) (each 1 qian).
Grind the above into an extremely fine powder and sift repeatedly. Rub the affected area with the calyx of a fresh eggplant. Bathe first, then rub.
Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix) (each 0.5 liang), Chi Tu (Red Earth) (1 liang).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Render 2 liang of fresh pig lard to remove impurities, mix with 1 liang of honey, and combine with the herbal powder. Let stand overnight. Take one large spoonful per dose, mixed with hot wine. Take once on an empty stomach and once after meals. Both prescriptions require avoidance of chicken, duck, scaleless fish, tofu, etc. Prescription from Zhang Zhongyou, the barber/surgeon.
