Regarding the discussion on "Je Ru" (nursing engorgement): It is said that after childbirth, one should frequently express milk to prevent accumulation. If milk accumulates and is not expelled, it coagulates and fails to flow out. The foul fluid remains inside, drawing heat and causing warmth, leading to hard, knotted masses that pull and cause sharp pain. There is extreme thirst requiring drinking, urgent breast pain making the hand unable to approach, resulting in "Je Ru." This is not an abscess (Yong). Immediately moxa both hands' Yuji points (LU10) for fourteen moxibustion units (zhuang) to cut off the pulse of the abscess, so the patient no longer dislikes the hand touching the breast, and milk will naturally flow out. At this point, one can assist by squeezing and pulling with the hand, causing a large amount of milk to discharge, resembling pus. Internally administer Liaoqiao Tang (Forsythia Decoction); externally apply a thin paste made from Adzuki beans (Vigna angularis) to the affected area for recovery. The method involves using a rope to measure horizontally across the mouth width as a standard. From the nipple, measure upwards along this length to the end point, and apply fourteen moxibustion units there. *Zisheng Jing* states: For women suffering from mastitis, those under forty years old are mostly cured by treatment; those over forty years old often die despite treatment; if left untreated, they may still live out their natural lifespan. Mr. Wang said: A seventy-year-old woman developed mastitis but did not believe this theory. She had a surgeon cut it open with a knife. Although she felt temporary relief, she died shortly thereafter. Only then did she realize the reliability of the *Qianjin Fang*. Another method is applying juice from crushed Rehmannia root (Rehmanniae Radix) or leaves/roots of Vitex trifolia (Viticis Fructus or Radix), changing the application when it becomes hot. Using Angelica dahurica powder (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) mixed with warm water for topical application is also effective.
For carbuncles and sores developing on the breast, it was traditionally considered incurable, and the patient would naturally live out their life. However, there is no reason to simply watch without acting. The following verified prescriptions are recorded here:
Have the patient stand upright with feet together and arms spread wide. Use a small bamboo stick that must be perfectly straight. Measure the distance between the tips of the middle fingers of both hands as the standard. Then use a thin comb-like ruler, cutting it to the length of the bamboo stick. Place it starting from under the neck at both sides, draping down towards the back of the spine, meeting at one point. Mark the center precisely without deviation. Then use a small ruler to measure the patient's right middle finger, from the proximal transverse crease at the base to the tip, and cut the ruler to this length. Place this ruler on the marked point, aligning it with the ends. These endpoints are the acupoints. Treat the left side by moxaing the right, and the right side by moxaing the left. Apply either three moxibustion units, or five to seven moxibustion units.
