Huangdi asked Su Nv: I have heard that among women in the world, some suffer from diseases after childbirth, some before ever bearing children, and some experience cessation of menstruation after childbirth without recovery.
Huangdi said: Please calmly explain the essentials; it is easy to understand. Hearing your words, the illness has persisted for a long time. Please reflect in detail on this matter. Su Nv said: Very well. How should it be treated?
Su Nv said:
The Yin aspect governs... the central yellow organ's residence... interruption... chest... resembling pregnancy. When pathogenic qi is excessively severe, it causes mental confusion and excessive dreaming, alternating chills and fever, and aversion to movement in the four limbs. Vital energy arises in the Yin region, and wind generates within the swelling. In severe cases, urination is impaired, presenting with astringency, pain, and dribbling. The face becomes sallow and dark. Once the disease forms, reproduction becomes impossible.
The first type is called Huang Jia (Yellow Mass). When a woman's menstrual flow begins, if she has recently suffered a fall or injury, and the blood qi has not yet ceased, and bed rest has not been established, the five zang organs and six fu organs are weak and emaciated, and the spirit is not regulated.

Child... People suffer from cold shivering entering the abdomen, oppression and heaviness, retention of evil blood, and heat accumulation causing obstruction of bowel and bladder movements, which transforms into Qing Jia. The mass gathers in the right hypochondrium, hiding in the back muscles and thighs. There is spasm below the waist, swelling of both feet, sallow complexion, and difficulty in urination and defecation. The signs include irregular or obstructed menstruation, or inability to control bleeding, resembling Bing Zhong (uterine bleeding). This is caused by negligence, leading to infertility. Treatment should involve needling the Weiguan acupoint, using toxic drugs according to specific methods; once the mass descends, the patient will recover.
