In cases of carbuncles and sores (skin and subcutaneous purulent inflammation), the indiscriminate use of toxic herbs will only exacerbate toxicity. One should adhere to the following care principles: avoid exposure to wind-pathogens, reduce sleep and bed rest, avoid fright and worry, refrain from anger, move slowly, speak sparingly, abstain from sexual intercourse, eliminate excessive thinking, prevent contact with filth, listen to beneficial and wholesome words, frequently wash the wound, continuously apply medicinal aids, rinse and gargle while inhaling fragrant aromas, maintain regular bowel and bladder movements, select appropriate foods for nourishment, avoid irregular eating habits leading to hunger or overeating.
