The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) states that swelling caused by various diseases is attributed to Fire. Therefore, when Heat pathogen prevails, swelling occurs. This swelling moves around without a fixed location, resembling the sensation of being roasted by fire. It is also sometimes referred to as "flowing swelling" (Liuzhong). This condition arises from the interaction between Wind pathogen and internal Heat.

Note: Text says 'Shuodai', likely referring to a specific plant part or typo for another herb like 'Shudai' or similar, but strictly translating as given context implies a plant material not sinking in water), and other unspecified herbs making up fourteen items. All ingredients are added together and decocted with slight heat for half a day. The dregs are removed.
Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder): Treats Heat-swelling and Heat-Toxin syndrome.
