所谓瘿病导致咽喉噎塞，是由于忧愤之气郁结在胸膈部位，无法消散，进而传至肺和脾。因此，作为胃气通道的咽喉门户，其气机在咽喉下方抑郁滞留，导致该处负责吞咽的功能受阻，出现噎塞不通的症状。患瘿病的人，以这种症状为急迫。
