When wind pathogen enters the meridians connecting to the head, it results in "Mu Feng Yan Han" (Wind-Strike of the Eyes with Cold Sensation). The essence and qi of the five zang organs and six fu organs all ascend and pour into the eyes. Blood and qi, along with the meridians, ascend together and connect to the brain.
Now, when wind pathogen enters the meridians connecting to the head, the blood vessels become stagnant and obstructed, unable to ascend and pour into the eyes. Furthermore, the Liver opens into the eyes and dislikes wind; the Liver enables vision only when nourished by blood. Now that cold-wind pathogen lodges there,
it causes "Mu Feng Yan Han".
The manifestation of this syndrome includes a bluish complexion, astringent pain in the head (both large and small areas), frequent tearing, bitter taste in the mouth, and aversion to food. This is because the Gallbladder has been affected by cold-wind, so it is appropriate to take Liang Dan Wan (Cooling the Gallbladder Pill).
In winter, the condition becomes extremely severe, with continuous attacks. This is due to Lung deficiency with wind pathogen, which is triggered by cold, so it is appropriate to take Bai Jiang Can San (White Silkworm Powder).
