Cun pulse is tight and Chi pulse is choppy. The patient experiences chest fullness, inability to eat, and vomiting. The vomitus results from previous inappropriate use of purgative methods, which damaged the spleen and stomach, hence the inability to eat. If the vomiting persists without stopping, this is termed Wei Fan (Stomantic Reversal).
Morning vomiting and inverted stomach: Initially, this arises from Qi stagnation due to the Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pondering, Sorrow, Fear, Fright), or from consuming raw and cold foods, preferring roasted and fried foods, irregular eating habits, all of which damage the Spleen and Stomach.
The root of inverted stomach lies in the Stomach; food is vomited because the Stomach fails to receive and digest it, hence the term "stomach opening inversion." It is often caused by initial rebellion of Stomach Qi, excessive alcohol consumption causing injury, or accumulation of Wind-Cold.
These are symptoms of inverted stomach. In its early stage, it invariably begins with Wu Ye (Five Chokes) and Wu Ge (Five Obstructions).
Wu Ye (Five Chokes) and Wu Ge (Five Obstructions): These result from irregular emotions, excessive worry and thinking, overwork, and constant fright. The Seven Emotions injure the Spleen and Stomach, leading to Qi stagnation and Phlegm generation. Phlegm and Qi contend, causing Qi to ascend but not descend, resulting in undigested food. When Qi remains in the throat and epiglottis, it is called Wu Ye (Five Chokes); when it knots in the chest and diaphragm, it is called Wu Ge (Five Obstructions).
