Bu Zhen Wan (Source: *Wei Shi Fang*) Generally, loss of appetite treated with spleen-stomach herbs often fails. There is another perspective:
Human life requires proper maintenance. Excessive sexual activity leads to deficiency of True Yang, failure of Kan Fire (Kidney Yang) to warm, inability to steam the Spleen Earth upwards, loss of distribution of Harmonious Qi, and failure of the Middle Jiao to transport. This results in loss of appetite, chest and diaphragm blockage, either fullness without eating or indigestion after eating, and loose stools. All these are due to deficiency of True Fire failing to steam and nurture Spleen Earth. Ancients said: "Tonifying the Kidney is better than tonifying the Spleen." I say: "Tonifying the Spleen is better than tonifying the Kidney." If Kidney Qi is strong, Dantian Fire steams the Spleen Earth upwards. If Spleen Earth is warm, the Middle Jiao self-regulates, the diaphragm opens, and appetite returns.
