If carbuncles and swellings present with excessive cold pathogens and deep-seated toxicity, although external symptoms show induration that does not dissipate and pain is unbearable without suppuration, or if perforation has occurred but healing is delayed for a long time. For those on the exterior, medicinal erosion is required; for those in the interior, medicinal support (pushing out toxins) is necessary. This allows the release of toxic qi and the circulation of Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi, thereby curing the carbuncle and gangrene. Therefore, these formulas for drawing out and eroding carbuncles are presented.
Formulas:
Fu Jian San (Decoction of Double Boiling) treats various carbuncles, gangrenes, swelling-toxins, and furuncles.
