Wind-induced anesthesia (Feng Bu Ren) is caused by deficiency of Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and excess of Wei Qi (Defensive Qi). When wind-cold pathogens invade the muscles, they obstruct the smooth flow of blood and qi, leading to stagnation and bi-syndrome (painful obstruction). This results in thickened skin and anesthesia (loss of sensation). A deficient and rapid pulse indicates a favorable prognosis (survival), while a firm, tense, and rapid pulse indicates an unfavorable prognosis (death).
