Emetic Method: This formula can substitute for Gengdi San (Melon Seed Powder) and Sansheng San (Three Miracles Powder). Whenever pathogenic factors are excess in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), whether due to phlegm, food stagnation, or rebellious Qi obstruction, this method of inducing vomiting can be employed.
Method 1: Crush radish seeds, mix with warm water and stir, then slowly drink the dilute liquid. After a short while, vomiting will occur. Even if not all is vomited out, it will inevitably pass downward through the intestines. Another method: powder the radish seeds, mix one spoonful with warm water, and after some time, vomiting of saliva and mucus will cure the condition.
A third method: Take a small amount of salt, stir-fry it in a hot pan until red, then add water. Boil until just before boiling point, stir evenly, and taste to ensure it is slightly bland before drinking. Drink half a bowl each time, gradually increasing the amount, which will naturally induce vomiting. Stop when the disease is expelled. A fourth method: Any medicine can be used to induce vomiting, provided it is made into a decoction according to the syndrome and used to probe the throat to induce vomiting; there is nothing that cannot be done.
Chijin Dou (Red Gold Bean): Also known as Baxian Dan (Eight Immortals Pill). It treats various types of accumulation and stagnation. It is suitable for cases of blood coagulation and Qi stagnation causing pain and swelling, or hard accumulations of parasites. This pill removes pathogens rapidly and effectively, greatly surpassing substances like Xiaoshi (Mirabilite), Dahuang (Rhubarb), Sanleng (Sparganium), and E Zhu (Curcuma), which tend to excessively damage Zang-Fu Qi.
Ingredients: Bashuang (Croton Seed Processed Paste, skin and membrane removed, oil partially removed, 1.5 qian), Sheng Fuzi (Raw Prepared Aconite Root, sliced, lightly stir-fried dry, 2 qian), Zaogao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, stir-fried until slightly scorched, 2 qian), Qingfen (Calomel, 1 qian), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, 3 qian), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 3 qian), Tianzhuhuang (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam, 3 qian), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 2 qian, used as coating).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Soak steamed wheat dough in vinegar, knead into pills the size of radish seeds, and coat with Zhusha. To remove pathogens gradually, take 5–7 pills per dose. To remove pathogens rapidly, take 10–20 pills per dose. Administer with boiling water, or a decoction, or using ginger, vinegar, tea, honey, Huixiang (Foeniculum Vulgare Fruit), or Shijunzi (Quisqualis Indica Fruit) decoction as a guiding vehicle. If diarrhea persists, stop by drinking one or two mouthfuls of cold water, as this medicine acts when heated and stops when cooled. For treating drum-like distension caused by Qi-dampness excess stagnation, first boil red dates until soft, take about 1 qian of date flesh, combine with 7–8 pills (or 10–20 for severe cases), mash together with the date flesh, and administer with heated liquor and a little white sugar. For treating worm-induced pain, also use date flesh combined with administration, but only use clear water as the vehicle.
Taiping Wan (Peaceful Pill): Treats chest and abdominal pain, distension, and fullness, as well as food, Qi, and blood accumulations; Qi hernia and Blood hernia; and severe pain due to pathogenic excess and constipation/stagnation. This formula utilizes Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Wuyao (Linderae Radix), Baijiezi (Sinapis Semen), Caodoukou (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Pengzhu (Curcumae Rhizoma, baked), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Yazao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, stir-fried until smoke ceases), and Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 3 qian each).
Grind the above eleven ingredients into fine powder.
Badou (Crotonis Fructus, soak in boiling water, remove skin, heart, and membrane, weigh exactly 1 qian; add one bowl of water, simmer over low heat until half remains, remove Badou, grind extremely finely in a mortar, return the previous liquid to the mortar and grind uniformly, then depending on the quantity of other medicines, mix with soaked and mashed steamed wheat dough to form pills the size of mung beans. Each dose is 3 fen, or 5 fen, or 1 qian for severe cases.)
Administer according to the syndrome using a decoction as a guiding vehicle. For food stagnation, use a decoction of the ingested food; for women's Qi-blood pain, use Honghua Tang (Carthami Decoction) or Danggui Tang (Angelicae Sinensis Decoction); for Qi pain, use Chenpi Tang; for hernia, use Huixiang Tang; for Cold, use Shengjiang Tang (Fresh Ginger Decoction); to induce purgation, administer 1 qian with hot Jiangtang (Ginger Decoction). If unrelieved, take another dose. If purgation is excessive and does not stop, drink one or two mouthfuls of cold water to halt it.
Dunfu Wan (Mound-Piling Pill): Treats stubborn food stagnation accumulated in the intestines and stomach, causing severe pain and obstruction.
Ingredients: Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 5 qian), Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus, 5 qian), Maiya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus, 5 qian), Zaogao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, 5 qian), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, 5 qian), Wuyao (Linderae Radix, 5 qian), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 5 qian), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 5 qian), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 5 qian), Bashuang (Croton Seed Processed Paste, 1 qian).
Grind all ingredients into powder. Mash 1 liang of raw garlic cloves, extract juice with cooked water, soak steamed wheat dough in the juice, and mash into pills the size of mung beans. Take 20–30 pills per dose, administered with any appropriate decoction as a guiding vehicle. If not cured, gradually increase the dosage.
Liechong Wan (Worm-Hunting Pill): Treats diseases such as abdominal distension and pain due to various parasite accumulations, and sallow emaciation.
Ingredients: Wuyi (Phytolaccae Radix, equal parts), Leiwuan (Pillulariae Sclerotium, equal parts), Tao Ren (Persicae Semen, equal parts), Ganqi (Drynariae Rhizoma? Note: Context implies Drynaria or similar, but text says Ganqi usually Quercus resin or similar, here likely meant for parasitic action, often associated with specific processing. In TCM pharmacopoeia context for worms, sometimes refers to specific resins, but standard translation for "Gan Qi" in this specific historical context often aligns with specific antiparasitic agents. However, strictly translating the name: Ganqi), stir-fried until smoke ceases; Xionghuang (Realgar, lightly stir-fried, equal parts); Xihui (Tin Ash, equal parts); Zaogao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, burned until smoke ceases, equal parts); Binglang (Arecae Semen, equal parts); Shijunzi (Quisqualis Indica Fruit, equal parts); Qingfen (Calomel, half portion); Xi Feirou (Seed Kernel of Torreyea Grandis, double portion).
Soak steamed wheat dough in water, mash into pills the size of mung beans. Take 5–7 fen per dose, with boiling plain water, administering continuously. For hard parasite accumulations, add Bashuang and Qingfen.
Baishun Wan (Hundred-Obedience Pill): Treats all Yang-pathogen accumulations and stagnations. Whether Qi, blood, parasite, or food accumulation, or excess-heat constipation from Cold Damage, simply use the appropriate decoction as a guiding vehicle for administration, and it will be effective everywhere.
Ingredients: Chuan Dahuang (Jinwen variety, 1 jin); Yazaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, stir-fried until slightly yellow, 1 liang 6 qian).
Grind into powder. Soak steamed wheat dough in water, mash into pills the size of mung beans. Take 5 fen, or 1 qian, or 2–3 qian per dose, adjusting according to need with a guiding vehicle, or alternatively, make into pills with honey.
