鸡血（二六二）味咸，性平。主疗痿痹中恶腹痛，解丹毒蛊毒虫毒盐卤毒，及小儿惊风便结，
亦能下乳，俱宜以热血服之。若马咬人伤，宜以热血浸之。鸡冠血治白癜风，经络风热。涂囟颊，
治口 不正。卒灌之，治缢死欲绝，及小儿卒惊客忤。和酒服，发痘最佳。涂诸疮癣蜈蚣蜘蛛马啮
等毒。若有百虫入耳，宜用热血滴之。
鸭血（二六三）味咸微凉，善解诸毒。凡中金银丹石砒霜盐卤毒者，俱宜服此解之。若野葛毒
杀人至死，热饮之，入口即解。若溺水死者，灌之即活。蚯蚓咬疮，涂之即愈。
虎骨（二六四）味微辛，气平。主百邪恶气，杀鬼精，心腹诸痛，止惊悸，壮筋骨，治肢体毒
风拘挛，走注疼痛，辟伤寒温疟，及恶疮鼠痿，犬咬诸毒。头骨作枕，辟恶梦魇魅，置户上，辟鬼
祟。寇宗 曰∶风从虎者，风木也，虎金也，木受金制，安得弗从，故可治风病挛急走注，风毒癫
厥惊痫诸病。李时珍曰∶虎骨通可用。
凡辟邪疗惊痫头风，温疟疮疽，当用头骨；治手足诸风，当用胫骨；治腰背诸风，当用脊骨，
亦各从其类也。
吴球曰∶虎之一身筋节气力皆出前足，故以胫骨为胜。
象牙（二六五）味甘，气凉。能清心肾之火，可疗惊悸风狂，骨蒸痰热，鬼精邪气，痈毒诸疮，
并宜生屑入药煮服。若诸物鲠刺喉中，宜磨水饮之。竹木刺入肌肉，宜刮牙屑和水敷之即出。
鹿角胶（二六六）味甘咸，气温。大补虚羸，益血气，填精髓，壮筋骨，长肌肉，悦颜色，延
年益寿。疗吐血下血，尿精尿血，及妇人崩淋，赤白带浊，血虚无子，止痛安胎，亦治折跌损伤，
疮疡肿毒。善助阴中之阳，最为补阴要药。
雇茸（二六七）味甘咸，气温。破开涂酥炙黄脆入药。益元气，填真阴，扶衰羸瘦弱，善助精
血，尤强筋骨，坚齿牙，益神志。治耳聋目暗，头脑眩运。补腰肾虚冷，脚膝无力，夜梦鬼交，遗
精滑泄，小便频数，虚痢尿血，
及妇人崩中漏血，赤白带下，道家云∶惟有斑龙顶上珠，能补玉堂关下血者，即此是也。若得嫩而
肥大如紫茄者，较之鹿角胶，其功力为倍倍。
犀角（二六八）味苦辛微甘，气寒。气味俱轻，升也，阳也。其性灵通，长于走散，较诸角为
甚。药用黑色，功力在尖。专人阳明，清胃火、亦施他脏。凉心定神镇惊，泻肝明目，能解大热，
散风毒阳毒，瘟疫热烦。磨汁治吐血衄血下血，及伤寒蓄血，发狂发黄，发斑谵语，痘疮稠密，内
热黑陷，或不结痂，亦散疮毒痈疡，脓血肿痛，杀妖狐精魅鬼疰，百毒蛊毒，钩吻、鸩羽、蛇毒，
辟溪瘴山岚恶气。其性升而善散，故治伤寒热毒闭表，烦热昏闷而汗不得解者，磨尖搀入药中，取
汗速如附应。仲景云∶如无犀角，以升麻代之者，正以此两物俱入阳明，功皆升散。今人莫得其解，
每致疑词，是但知犀角之解心热，而不知犀角之能升散，尤峻速于升麻也。倘中气虚弱，脉细无神，
及痘疮血虚，真阴不足等证，凡畏汗畏寒畏散者，乃所当忌。或必不得已，宜兼补剂用之。
羚羊角（二六九）味咸，性寒。羊本火畜，而此则属木，善走少阳、厥阴二经。故能清肝定风，
行血行气，辟鬼疰邪毒，安魂魄，定惊狂、祛魇寐，疗伤寒邪热，一切邪毒，中恶毒风，卒死昏不
知人，及妇人子痫强痉，小儿惊悸烦闷，痰火不清。俱宜为末，蜜水调服，或烧脆研末，酒调服之。
若治肿毒恶疮，磨水涂之亦可。
牛黄（二百七十）味苦辛，性凉，气平，有小毒。忌常山。入心肺肝经。能清心退热，化痰凉
惊，通关窍，开结滞。
治小儿惊痫客忤，热痰口噤，大人癫狂痰壅，中风发痉，辟邪魅中恶，天行疫疾，安魂定魄，
清神志不宁，聪耳目壅闭，疗痘疮紫色，痰盛躁狂。亦能堕胎，孕妇少用。
阿胶（二七一）味甘微辛，气平，微温。气味颇浓，阳中有阴。制用蛤粉妙珠，入肺肝肾三经。
其气温，故能扶劳伤，益中气。其性降，故能化痰清肺，治肺痈肺痿，咳唾脓血，止嗽定喘。其性
养血，故能止吐血衄血，便血尿血，肠风下痢，及妇人崩中带浊血淋，经脉不调。其味甘缓，故能
安胎固漏，养血滋肾，实腠理，止
虚汗，托补痈疽肿毒。用惟松脆气清者为佳，坚硬臭劣者不美。
熊胆（二七二）味苦，性寒。能退热清心，疗时气黄胆，平肝明目，去翳障，杀蛔蛲，牙虫风
痛，及小儿热疳热痰，惊痫螈 ，疳 热痢，俱宜以竹沥化两豆粒许服之，甚良。亦治鼻疮热疮，
痔漏肿痛，以汤化涂之，少加冰片尤效。欲辨其真，惟取一粟许，置水面，如线而下一道不散者是
也。且凡是诸胆，皆能水面辟尘，惟此尤速，乃亦可辨。
麝香（二七三）味苦辛，性温。能开诸窍，通经络，透肌骨，解酒毒，吐风痰，消积聚 瘕，
散诸恶浊气，除心腹暴痛胀急，杀鬼物邪气魇寐，脏腑虫积，蛇虫毒、蛊毒、瘴毒、沙虱毒，及妇
人难产，尤善堕胎。用热水研服一粒，治小儿惊痫客忤，镇心安神。疗鼻塞不闻香臭，目疾可去翳
膜，除一切恶疮，痔漏肿痛，脓水腐肉，面 斑疹。凡气滞为病者，俱宜用之。若鼠咬虫咬成疮，
但以麝香封之则愈。欲辨真假，但置些须于火炭上，有油滚出而成焦黑炭者，肉类也，此即香之本
体。若燃火而化白灰者，木类也，是即假搀。
鸡血（二六二）味道咸，性质平和。主要治疗痿痹、中恶腹痛，解除丹毒、蛊毒、虫毒、盐卤毒，以及小儿惊风和大便干结，也能促进乳汁分泌，都适宜用热血服用。如果是被马咬伤，适宜用热血浸泡伤口。鸡冠血可以治疗白癜风和经络中的风热。涂抹在囟门和脸颊处，可治疗口眼歪斜。突然灌服，可治疗缢死将绝的情况，以及小儿突发惊风和客忤症。与酒同服，对发痘疹效果最佳。涂抹在各种疮癣、蜈蚣蜘蛛咬伤、马咬等毒素上。如果有百虫进入耳朵，适宜用热血滴入耳中。
鸭血（二六三）味道咸，性质微凉，善于解除各种毒素。凡是中了金银丹石、砒霜、盐卤毒的人，都适宜服用此物来解毒。如果是野葛毒杀人致死，热饮鸭血，入口即可解毒。如果是溺水死亡者，灌服鸭血即可复活。蚯蚓咬伤引起的疮疡，涂抹鸭血即可痊愈。
虎骨（二六四）味道微辛，气味平和。主要治疗各种邪恶之气，驱除鬼精，缓解心腹各种疼痛，制止惊悸，强壮筋骨，治疗肢体毒风引起的拘挛和游走性疼痛，预防伤寒温疟，以及恶疮、鼠痿、犬咬等各种毒素。用头骨做枕头，可以预防噩梦和魇魅；放在门户上方，可以驱除鬼祟。寇宗奭说：风从虎生，是因为风属木，虎属金，木受金制约，所以不能不从，因此虎骨可以治疗风病引起的拘急、游走性疼痛，以及风毒、癫厥、惊痫等各种病症。李时珍说：虎骨通体可用。
凡是治疗辟邪、疗惊痫、头风、温疟、疮疽，应当使用头骨；治疗手足各种风病，应当使用胫骨；治疗腰背各种风病，应当使用脊骨，这也是各取其所类也。吴球说：老虎全身的筋节气力都出自前足，所以以胫骨为优。
象牙（二六五）味道甘，气凉。能清泄心肾之火，可治疗惊悸、风狂、骨蒸痰热、鬼精邪气、痈毒各种疮疡，都适宜磨成生屑入药煮服。如果各种物体刺卡在喉咙中，适宜磨水饮用。竹木刺入肌肉，适宜刮取牙屑和水敷贴，刺即可取出。
鹿角胶（二六六）味道甘咸，气温。大补虚损羸弱，益补血气，填补精髓，强壮筋骨，生长肌肉，美容养颜，延年益寿。治疗吐血、下血、尿精、尿血，以及妇人崩漏、赤白带浊、血虚无子，止痛安胎，也治疗跌打损伤、疮疡肿毒。善于助长阴中之阳，是最为重要的补阴药物。
雇茸（二六七）味道甘咸，气温。剖开涂酥炙烤至黄脆后入药。益元气，填真阴，扶持衰弱的身体，善于补充精血，尤其能强壮筋骨，坚固牙齿，益神志。治疗耳聋目暗、头脑眩晕。补腰肾虚冷、脚膝无力、夜梦鬼交、遗精滑泄、小便频数、虚痢尿血，以及妇人崩中漏血、赤白带下。道家说：只有斑龙顶上的珠（指鹿角），能补玉堂关下的血，说的就是此物。如果是嫩而肥大如紫茄子般的，比鹿角胶的功效加倍。
犀角（二六八）味道苦、辛、微甘，气寒。气味都很轻，属于升散之性，属阳。其性灵通，擅长走散，比其他角更为显著。药用黑色部分，功力集中在尖端。专入阳明经，清胃火，也作用于其他脏腑。凉心定神镇惊，泻肝明目，能解大热，散发风毒阳毒，瘟疫热烦。磨汁治疗吐血、衄血、下血，以及伤寒蓄血、发狂发黄、发斑谵语、痘疮稠密、内热黑陷或不结痂，也能散发疮毒痈疡、脓血肿痛，杀妖狐精魅鬼疰，百毒蛊毒，钩吻、鸩羽、蛇毒，辟除溪瘴山岚恶气。其性升而善散，所以治疗伤寒热毒闭表，烦热昏闷而汗不得出者，磨取尖部掺入药中，取汗迅速如响应声。张仲景说：如果没有犀角，可以用升麻代替，正是因为这两味药都入阳明经，功效都是升散。现在的人不明白其中的道理，常常产生怀疑，这是因为只知道犀角能解心热，而不知道犀角能升散，且作用比升麻更峻猛迅速。如果中气虚弱，脉细无神，以及痘疮血虚、真阴不足等证候，凡是畏惧发汗、畏寒、畏散者，都在禁忌之列。如果不得已必须使用，应当配合补剂一起使用。
羚羊角（二六九）味道咸，性寒。羊本是火畜，但羚羊角属木，善于走少阳、厥阴二经。所以能清肝定风，行血行气，辟除鬼疰邪毒，安魂魄，定惊狂，祛魇寐，治疗伤寒邪热，一切邪毒，中恶毒风，卒死昏迷不知人，以及妇人子痫强痉，小儿惊悸烦闷，痰火不清。都适宜研为末，蜜水调服，或烧脆研末，酒调服。如果治疗肿毒恶疮，磨水涂抹也可以。
牛黄（二百七十）味道苦、辛，性凉，气平，有小毒。忌与常山同用。入心、肺、肝经。能清心退热，化痰凉惊，通关窍，开结滞。治疗小儿惊痫客忤，热痰口噤，大人癫狂痰壅，中风发痉，辟邪魅中恶，天行疫疾，安魂定魄，清神志不宁，聪耳目壅闭，治疗痘疮紫色，痰盛躁狂。也能堕胎，孕妇慎用。

熊胆（二七二）味道苦，性寒。能退热清心，治疗时气黄疸，平肝明目，去翳障，杀蛔蛲，牙虫风痛，以及小儿热疳热痰、惊痫抽搐、疳积热痢，都适宜用竹沥化开两豆粒大小服用，效果很好。也治疗鼻疮热疮、痔漏肿痛，用汤化开涂抹，少加冰片效果更好。想要辨别真伪，只取一粟米大小，放在水面上，像线一样直下一道不散开的就是真品。而且凡是各种胆，都能在水面辟尘，只有熊胆速度更快，这也是一种辨别方法。
麝香（二七三）味道苦、辛，性温。能开诸窍，通经络，透肌骨，解酒毒，吐风痰，消积聚瘕块，散各种恶浊气，除心腹暴痛胀急，杀鬼物邪气魇寐，脏腑虫积，蛇虫毒、蛊毒、瘴毒、沙虱毒，以及妇人难产，尤其善于堕胎。用热水研服一粒，治疗小儿惊痫客忤，镇心安神。治疗鼻塞不闻香臭，目疾可去翳膜，除一切恶疮、痔漏肿痛、脓水腐肉、面斑疹。凡是气滞为病者，都适宜使用。如果是老鼠咬或虫咬成疮，只用麝香封贴即可痊愈。想要辨别真假，只需放少许在火炭上，有油滚出并结成焦黑炭状的是肉类，这是香的本质本体。如果燃烧化为白灰的是木类，这是假药搀杂。
Chicken Blood (262) tastes salty and is neutral in nature. It primarily treats flaccidity syndromes (Wei syndrome), bi-syndrome, sudden evil qi causing abdominal pain, and resolves dan-toxin, gu-toxin, insect toxin, and salt-brine toxin. It also treats infantile convulsions and constipation, promotes lactation, and all these indications are best served by consuming it while hot. If bitten by a horse, soaking the wound in hot blood is appropriate. Chicken comb blood treats vitiligo and wind-heat in the meridians. Applied to the fontanelle and cheeks, it treats facial paralysis (deviation of mouth and eye). Suddenly administering it treats near-death from hanging and sudden infantile fright or alien qi invasion. Taken with wine, it is optimal for erupting smallpox/chickenpox. Applied to various sores, tinea, and toxins from centipedes, spiders, or horse bites. If insects enter the ear, dripping hot blood into it is appropriate.
Duck Blood (263) tastes salty and is slightly cool in nature; it excels at resolving various toxins. For those poisoned by gold, silver, cinnabar, arsenic, or salt-brine, consuming this is appropriate to detoxify. If killed by wild gelsemium (Ye Ge) poison, drinking it hot resolves the toxin upon entry. For drowning victims, administering it can revive them. For ulcers caused by earthworm bites, applying duck blood leads to healing.
Tiger Bone (264) tastes slightly pungent and is neutral in odor/nature. It primarily treats various evil qi, expels ghost essences, relieves various heart and abdominal pains, stops palpitations and fright, strengthens sinews and bones, treats toxic wind in limbs causing spasms and wandering pain, prevents cold damage and warm malaria, and treats malignant sores, rat-wasting, and toxins from dog bites. Using the skull as a pillow wards off nightmares and sleep paralysis; placing it above the door wards off evil spirits. Kou Zongshi said: Wind arises from the tiger because wind belongs to Wood, and the tiger belongs to Metal; since Wood is controlled by Metal, it must follow, thus tiger bone can treat wind diseases causing spasms, wandering pain, and conditions like wind-toxin, mania, syncope, and epilepsy. Li Shizhen stated that any part of the tiger bone can be used.
For treating evil expulsion, calming convulsions, headache due to wind, warm malaria, and carbuncles, use the skull; for treating wind in hands and feet, use the shin bone; for treating wind in the waist and back, use the spine bone, each corresponding to its category. Wu Qiu said: The strength, sinews, qi, and energy of a tiger all originate from its front legs, so the shin bone is superior.
Ivory (265) tastes sweet and is cool in nature. It clears fire from the Heart and Kidney, treats palpitations, wind-manic behavior, bone-steaming phlegm-heat, ghost essence and evil qi, abscesses, and various sores. These should be ground into raw powder and decocted for consumption. If foreign objects are stuck in the throat, grinding ivory into water and drinking it is appropriate. For bamboo or wood splinters embedded in muscles, scraping ivory powder mixed with water and applying it helps extract the splinter.
Deer Antler Glue (266) tastes sweet and salty and is warm in nature. It greatly tonifies deficiency and emaciation, benefits blood and qi, fills essence and marrow, strengthens sinews and bones, promotes muscle growth, beautifies complexion, and extends life. It treats hematemesis, lower bleeding, spermatorrhea, hematuria, and women's metrorrhagia, leukorrhea (red and white discharge), infertility due to blood deficiency, stops pain, calms the fetus, and treats fractures and soft tissue injuries, sores, and swelling/toxins. It excellently assists yang within yin and is a crucial herb for tonifying yin.
Gu Rong (267) [Young Deer Antler] tastes sweet and salty and is warm in nature. Cut open, coated with butter, roasted until yellow and crisp, then used in medicine. It benefits primordial qi, fills true yin, supports frailty and weakness, excellently supplements essence and blood, especially strengthens sinews and bones, hardens teeth, and benefits spirit and mind. It treats deafness, dim vision, dizziness, lumbar/kidney deficiency with cold, weak knees and legs, nocturnal emissions with dream intercourse, seminal leakage, frequent urination, dysentery due to deficiency with hematuria, and women's heavy menstrual bleeding and leukorrhea. Daoists say: Only the pearl on top of the spotted dragon's head (referring to deer antler) can replenish the blood below the Jade Hall and Guan Xia, which refers to this substance. If tender and large like a purple eggplant, its efficacy is double that of deer antler glue.
Rhinoceros Horn (268) tastes bitter, pungent, and slightly sweet, and is cold in nature. Its odor and taste are light, ascending and yang. Its nature is spiritually penetrating, excelling in dispersing and moving, more so than other horns. Medicinal use favors the black color, with potency concentrated at the tip. It specifically enters the Yangming channel, clears stomach fire, and acts on other zang organs. It cools the heart, stabilizes spirit, calms fright, drains liver fire, brightens eyes, resolves severe heat, disperses wind-toxin and yang-toxin, and epidemic heat irritability. Ground juice treats hematemesis, epistaxis, lower bleeding, cold damage with blood stasis, mania, jaundice, macules, delirium, dense chickenpox/smallpox, internal heat causing black depression or failure to scab, and disperses sore toxins, abscesses, pus, blood, swelling, and pain. It kills demon fox essences, ghost infections, hundred toxins, gu-toxin, Gelsemium, poisonous bird feathers, snake venom, and wards off stream miasma and mountain bad qi. Its nature is ascending and dispersing, so for cold damage with heat-toxin blocking the exterior, causing irritability, heat, confusion, and inability to sweat, grinding the tip and adding it to medicine induces sweating rapidly. Zhang Zhongjing stated: If rhinoceros horn is unavailable, substitute with Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), precisely because both enter the Yangming channel and share ascending/dispersing functions. Modern people do not understand this, often doubting, knowing only that rhinoceros horn clears heart heat but not that it ascends and disperses, acting more swiftly and powerfully than Shengma. In cases of middle qi deficiency, fine pulse without spirit, or chickenpox/smallpox with blood deficiency and insufficient true yin, where sweating, cold, or dispersing are feared, it is contraindicated. If absolutely necessary, it should be used with tonifying formulas.
Antelope Horn (269) tastes salty and is cold in nature. Sheep are fire animals, but this horn belongs to Wood, excelling in entering the Shaoyang and Jueyin channels. Thus, it clears the liver, settles wind, moves blood and qi, expels ghost infections and evil toxins, calms soul and spirit, settles fright and mania, dispels nightmares, treats cold damage with pathogenic heat, all evil toxins, sudden evil wind-toxin, sudden death with coma, women's eclampsia and rigidity, infantile palpitations, irritability, and unclear phlegm-fire. All are best taken as powder, mixed with honey water, or roasted crisp, ground, and taken with wine. For treating swelling/toxins and malignant sores, grinding into water for topical application is also effective.
Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang) (270) tastes bitter and pungent, is cool in nature, neutral in odor, and slightly toxic. Contraindicated with Veratrum nigrum (Changshan). Enters Heart, Lung, and Liver channels. Clears heart heat, reduces fever, transforms phlegm, cools fright, opens orifices, and resolves stagnation. Treats infantile convulsions and alien qi invasion, heat-phlegm with locked jaw, adult mania with phlegm obstruction, stroke with spasms, expels evil charms and sudden evil, epidemic diseases, calms soul and spirit, clarifies restless spirit, unblocks ears and eyes, treats purple chickenpox/smallpox, excessive phlegm, and restlessness/mania. It can also induce abortion; pregnant women should use sparingly.
Donkey-Hide Gelatin (Ejiao) (271) tastes sweet and slightly pungent, is neutral in odor, and slightly warm. Odor and taste are rich, containing yin within yang. Prepared by stir-frying with clam powder into beads, entering Lung, Liver, and Kidney channels. Its warmth supports labor injury and benefits middle qi. Its descending nature transforms phlegm, clears lungs, treats lung abscess and wasting-pneumonia, coughing up pus and blood, stops cough, calms asthma. Its blood-nourishing nature stops hematemesis, epistaxis, hematochezia, hematuria, intestinal wind dysentery, and women's metrorrhagia, turbid discharge, bloody strangury, and irregular menstruation. Its sweet and slow nature calms the fetus, secures leakage, nourishes blood and tonifies kidney, solidifies interstices, stops deficient sweating, and supports/treats carbuncles and sores. Use loose, crisp, and clear-smelling material; hard and foul-smelling material is inferior.
Bear Bile (272) tastes bitter and is cold in nature. Reduces fever, clears heart, treats epidemic jaundice, calms liver, brightens eyes, removes nebula, kills roundworms and pinworms, toothache, wind-pain, infantile heat-guan and heat-phlegm, convulsions, heat-dysentery due to guan. Best administered dissolved in bamboo sap, two bean-sized doses, which is very effective. Also treats nasal sores, heat-sores, hemorrhoids/fistulas with swelling/pain, applied with water solution, adding a little borneol enhances efficacy. To verify authenticity, take a grain-sized amount, place on water surface; if it sinks in a straight line without spreading, it is genuine. Furthermore, while all bile can repel dust on water, bear bile does so fastest, which is another identification method.
Musk (She Xiang) (273) tastes bitter and pungent, is warm in nature. Opens orifices, unblocks meridians, penetrates muscles and bones, resolves alcohol toxicity, expels wind-phlegm, dissipates accumulations and masses, scatters evil turbid qi, relieves acute abdominal pain and distension, kills ghost objects, evil qi, nightmares, visceral parasites, snake/insect toxin, gu-toxin, miasma toxin, sandfly toxin, and women's dystocia; excels at inducing abortion. Dissolve one pill in hot water to treat infantile convulsions and alien qi invasion, calm heart and spirit. Treats nasal congestion loss of smell, eye diseases to remove nebula, eliminates all malignant sores, hemorrhoid/fistula swelling/pain, pus, necrotic flesh, facial macules/rash. Suitable for all diseases caused by qi stagnation. For wounds from rat or insect bites, sealing with musk alone heals. To verify authenticity, place a tiny amount on burning charcoal; if oil rolls out forming black charred carbon, it is animal origin (genuine). If it burns into white ash, it is plant origin (fake/adulterated).
