Sesame oil can resolve all kinds of food poisoning, a fact that must not be overlooked. When preparing dishes, one should first use genuine sesame oil to fry it thoroughly in a clean wok, then add meat and stir-fry, followed by adding clear water for boiling; this ensures no toxicity is incurred. Currently, people in Huizhou and Chizhou regions consume beef regardless of the season, day after day, yet rarely suffer from poisoning because they have proper methods of preparation. However, if one suffers from any kind of food poisoning, drinking one or two cups of sesame oil immediately will induce vomiting, thereby expelling the toxin and ensuring recovery without exception.
One: There are fifteen formulas for resolving food poisoning, all recorded in "Gu Fang Yin Zhen" (Ancient Formulas Compilation), ranging from item 207 to item 221.
One: Among methods of detoxification, none is superior to fire, as fire can alter the nature of substances.
For resolving various drug poisonings, it is advisable to use juice of Adenophora stricta (Qinpi, 荠苨), white hyacinth bean (Vigna umbellata) juice, mung bean (Vigna radiata) juice, licorice root (Gancao, 甘草) juice, maltose syrup (Yitang, 饴糖) juice, rice sugar syrup, or ash from burned silkworm pupal skins (Can Tui Zhi, 蚕蜕纸). Any of these may be used at will to resolve the toxicity.
Decoctions for detoxification should not be taken hot but rather cooled down. This is because toxins tend to intensify when exposed to heat. Although this statement specifically refers to heat-type toxins, what about cold-type poisonings caused by substances such as Momordica cochinchinensis seed (Mubiezi, 木鳖子), mushrooms (Junxun, 菌蕈), Coptis chinensis rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连), or gypsum (Shigao, 石膏)? In such cases, should one still avoid warmth and insist on cold drinks? Physicians' notes regarding this matter can be found under the section on vomiting and should be considered comprehensively.
One: There are fourteen detoxifying formulas in total, all recorded in "Gu Fang Yin Zhen", ranging from item 222 to item 235.
Formula 1: Equal parts of Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄) and Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai, 青黛) are ground into powder and taken with freshly drawn well water.
Formula 2: Dig a pit in clean soil, pour well water into it, stir, let it settle, and drink generously for recovery.
Formula 3: Equal parts of Alum (Jinfan, 晋矾) and Jian tea (Jiancha, 建茶) are ground into powder, mixed with freshly drawn well water, and taken in doses of three qian. Vomiting indicates effectiveness; if no vomiting occurs, take another dose.
Formula 4: Rhizoma Coptidis (Huanglian, 黄连) and nodes of Glycyrrhiza uralensis root (Gancao Jie, 甘草节) are decocted in water and taken cool, with dosage unrestricted.
Formula 5: Adenophora stricta (Qinpi, 荠苨), black soybean (Heidou, 黑豆), and Glycyrrhiza uralensis root (Gancao, 甘草) are chopped. Use one liang of each, add two zhan of water, decoct until one zhan remains, and take warm. If ineffective, repeat the dose.
Formula 6: Raw white hyacinth bean (Bai Biandou, 白扁豆) is ground into powder and taken with water in doses of two to three qian.
Formula 7: Longgu (Fulonggan, 伏龙肝), also known as stove-heart earth (Zaoxin Tu, 灶心土), is ground into fine powder, mixed with cool water in doses of three to four qian, stirred, and taken. If vomiting occurs, administer another dose.
