When the Yang collaterals are injured, blood overflows externally. After hemorrhage, the pulse should be quiet. The current pulse is fine and rapid; a rapid pulse indicates heat, while a fine pulse indicates Yin deficiency. Consequently, there is shortness of breath, dull pain in the chest and epigastrium, sallow complexion, weak voice, clear and white urine, black stool (indicating upper gastrointestinal bleeding), palpitations, and poor sleep, along with rebellious Qi or chest stuffiness. Movement causes deficient fire to rise, and fatigue causes Yang to float upward. None of these symptoms are not signs of deficient Yang disturbing upwards, deficiency of Yin and Blood downwards, and Qi failing to return to its source. Excess Qi transforms into fire, while deficient Qi generates cold. Although the Qi here appears excessive (manifesting as fire), it is not true fire but rather false heat caused by deficient cold. Yin cannot retain Yang, and Blood fails to coordinate with Qi. To descend the rebellious Qi, one must tonify Yin, which is self-evident. A prescription is proposed for your correction.

The stuffiness and pain in the chest and hypochondrium have decreased significantly compared to noon. This is likely because the stasis in the Upper Jiao has gradually moved and cleared; thus, the method of nourishing Yin and benefiting the Lung seems appropriate. However, the shortness of breath has not improved, and there are still rising fire, palpitations, dry mouth, malar flush, a fine and rapid pulse, indicating that Yang Qi is exposed outwardly and Yin Blood is deficient inwardly. If breathing can be harmonized, this will signify a favorable recovery. For your correction.

The Liver stores Hun (Ethereal Soul), and the Lung stores Po (Corporeal Soul). The ascent of Hun and descent of Po represent the distinction between Yin and Yang. In this case, the descent of Po is irrelevant, while the ascent of Hun is uniquely prominent. Initially, visual hallucinations occurred ("seeing what has never been seen"), and now auditory hallucinations occur ("hearing what has never been heard"). Conversations about men and women, with separation on left and right sides—this is due to nothing else but the failure of "Huangpo" (the Yellow Matron, referring to Spleen Earth) to act as a matchmaker. Huangpo belongs to Earth; damp-heat within the Earth generates phlegm, causing the generative numbers of Heaven Five and Earth Ten to lose their control. This affects the Liver Hun, causing the Hun to detach from its residence and float upward. To treat the symptoms above, one must first stabilize the Middle Jiao.
