菟丝子，味辛、甘，气温，无毒。入心、肝、肾三经之药。益气强阴，补髓添精，止腰
膝疼
痛，安心定魂，能断梦遗，坚强筋骨，且善明目。可以重用，亦可一味专用，世人未知也，
余表而出之。遇心虚之人，日夜梦精频泄者，用菟丝子三两，水十碗，煮汁三碗，分三服，
早、午、夜各一服即止，且永不再遗。其故何也？盖梦遗之病，多起于淫邪之思想，思想未
已，必致自泄其精，精泄之后，再加思想，则心火暗烁，相火乘心之虚，上夺君权，火欲动
而水亦动矣，久则结成梦想而精遗。于是，玉关不闭，不必梦而亦遗矣。此乃心、肝、肾三
经齐病，水火两虚所致。菟丝子正补心肝肾之圣药，况又不杂之别味，则力尤专，所以能直
入三经以收全效也。他如夜梦不安，两目昏暗，双足乏力，皆可用至一二两。同人参、熟地
、白术、山茱之类用之，多建奇功。古人云∶能断思交。则不尽然也。
或问菟丝可多用以成功，何千古无人表出，直待吾子而后示奇乎？曰∶轩岐之秘，不传
于世
也久矣。吾躬受岐夫子真传而秘之，则是轩岐之道，自我而传，亦自我而绝矣。故铎宁传之
天下，使当世怀疑而不敢用，断不可不传之天下，使万世隐晦而不知用也。
或疑菟丝子无根之草，依树木而生，其治病，亦宜依他药而成功，似未可专用也。噫，
何论
之奇也。夫菟丝子，神药也，天下有无根草木如菟丝子者乎，亡有也。故其治病，有不可思
议之奇。人身梦遗之病，亦奇病也，无端而结想，无端而入梦，亦有不可思议之奇。虽《灵
枢经》有“淫邪发梦”之篇，备言梦症，而终不得其所以入梦之故。虽圣人，亦难言也。用
菟丝子治梦遗者，以异草治异梦也，乃服之而效验如响，亦有不可思议之奇，吾不意天地间
之
多奇如此。虽然菟丝治梦遗者何足奇，奇在吾子之发论，余得共阐其奇耳。惟其奇，故菟丝
专用以出奇，又胡必依草木共治而后成功哉。（〔批〕理明而胸无芥蒂，笔顺而词有光口，
谓有神助，信然。）
或问菟丝子治梦遗，奇矣，亦可更治他病，能收奇功乎？夫菟丝子，实不止治梦遗也，
更能
强阳不倒。用一味至二两，煎汤服，则阳坚而不泄矣。或人不信吾方之奇。不知菟丝子，实
神药也，以神通神，实有至理。（〔批〕方奇而论更奇，妙在出言至理。）凡人入房而易泄者
，以心君之神先怯耳。心之神怯，则相之神旺矣。相之神旺，则
阳易举，亦易倒。心之神旺，则相之神严肃，而不敢犯君，则君之权尊。君之权尊，则令专
而不可摇动，故阳不举则已，举则坚而不易倒也。菟丝子，能安心君之神，更能补益心包络
之气，是君火与相火同补，阳安有不强者乎。况菟丝子更善补精髓，助阳之旺，又不损阴之
衰，此强阳不倒之可以无虞，而不至有阴虚火动之失也，虽然铎创此论，宣菟丝子之神奇，
非导淫也。倘阳火衰微，服此方，可以获益而种子。设或阴虚火盛，服此方，必有虚阳亢炎
之祸，至痨瘵而不可救者，非铎之过也。
菟丝子，味辛、甘，性温，无毒。是入心、肝、肾三经的药物。能益气强阴，补髓添精，止腰膝疼痛，安心定魂，能断绝梦遗，坚强筋骨，且善于明目。可以重用，也可以单味药专用，世人并不知道这一点，我将其揭示出来。遇到心虚之人，日夜因做梦而频繁泄精的，用菟丝子三两，水十碗，煮取汁液三碗，分三次服用，早、午、夜各服一次即可停止，并且永远不再遗精。这是什么原因呢？大概梦遗之病，多起于淫邪的思想，思想未停，必然导致自行泄精，精液泄出之后，再加上思想活动，则心火暗中燃烧，相火趁心气虚弱，上夺君火的主导权，火欲动而水也随之而动，久而久之结成梦想而导致精液遗泄。于是，玉关（指精关）不闭，不必做梦也会遗精。这是心、肝、肾三经同时患病，水火两虚所致。菟丝子正是补益心、肝、肾的圣药，况且又不混杂其他味道，所以力量尤为专一，因此能直入三经以收全效。其他的如夜间梦境不安，两眼昏暗，双足乏力，都可以用到一两至二两。与人参、熟地黄、白术、山茱萸等药配合使用，多能建立奇功。古人说：“能断绝思虑之交合。”这并不完全正确。
有人问：菟丝子可以多用来取得成功，为什么千古以来无人揭示，直到等待您才显示出神奇呢？回答说：轩辕、岐伯的秘法，不流传于世已经很久了。我亲身接受岐伯真传并保守秘密，那么轩辕、岐伯的道，从我这里开始传承，也从我这里断绝了。所以我宁愿将它传给天下人，让当世的人虽然怀疑但不敢使用，也绝不能不让它传给天下人，让万代的人隐晦不知如何使用。
有人怀疑菟丝子是无根的草，依附树木而生，它治病，也应该依靠其他药物才能成功，似乎不可以单独使用。唉，这议论多么奇特啊。夫菟丝子，是神药，天下有像菟丝子这样无根的草木吗？没有。所以它治病，有不可思议的神奇。人身梦遗的病，也是奇病，无缘无故地产生意念，无缘无故地进入梦境，也有不可思议的神奇。虽然《灵枢经》有“淫邪发梦”的篇章，详尽论述了梦症，但最终没能得到其进入梦境的原因。即使是圣人，也难以言说。用菟丝子治疗梦遗，是以异草治异梦，服药后效验如响应声，也有不可思议的神奇，我没料想到天地间竟然有这么多奇妙之事。虽然如此，菟丝子治疗梦遗有什么值得奇怪的，奇怪在于我的这番言论，我得以共同阐发这种神奇罢了。正因为其神奇，所以菟丝子单独使用以出奇效，又何必一定要依靠草木共同治疗才能成功呢。（〔批注〕道理明白而心中无芥蒂，笔势顺畅而言辞有光彩，说是神助，确实如此。）
有人问：菟丝子治疗梦遗，已经很神奇了，还可以治疗其他疾病，能收取奇功吗？夫菟丝子，实在不止治疗梦遗，更能使阳气强劲不倒。用单味药一至二两，煎汤服用，则阳坚挺而不泄精了。或者有人不相信我的方子神奇。不知道菟丝子，实在是神药，以神通神，实有至理。（〔批注〕方子神奇而论述更神奇，妙在说出至理。）凡人进入房事而易泄精的，是因为心君的神气先怯弱。心的神气怯弱，则相火的神气旺盛。相火的神气旺盛，则阳易举，也容易倒败。心的神气旺盛，则相火的神气严肃，而不敢侵犯君主，则君主的权威尊贵。君主的权威尊贵，则命令专一而不可动摇，所以阳不举则罢，一旦举起则坚挺而不易倒败。菟丝子，能安心君之神，更能补益心包络之气，是君火与相火同补，阳气怎么有不强的呢？况且菟丝子更善于补精髓，助阳之旺，又不损伤阴之衰，这强阳不倒就可以没有忧虑，而不至于有阴虚火动的过失了。虽然如此，我创立这个理论，宣扬菟丝子的神奇，不是引导淫欲。如果阳火衰微，服用此方，可以获得益处而生育种子。假如阴虚火盛，服用此方，必有虚阳亢炎之祸，发展到痨瘵（肺结核等慢性消耗性疾病）而不可救治的，就不是我的过错了。
Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi), with pungent and sweet flavors, is warm in nature and non-toxic. It enters the Heart, Liver, and Kidney meridians. It benefits Qi and strengthens Yin, supplements marrow and adds essence, stops pain in the waist and knees, calms the mind and stabilizes the soul, can stop nocturnal emissions, strengthens muscles and bones, and is good at improving vision. It can be used in heavy doses, or exclusively as a single herb, which people are unaware of; I hereby reveal it. For those with Heart deficiency who suffer from frequent seminal emission due to dreams day and night, use three taels of Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi), ten bowls of water, boil until three bowls of decoction remain, divide into three doses. Taking one dose each in the morning, noon, and night will stop the condition immediately, and prevent recurrence permanently. Why is this? The disease of nocturnal emission often originates from lustful thoughts. If these thoughts persist, spontaneous emission occurs. After emission, if thoughts continue, Heart Fire burns secretly. Ministerial Fire takes advantage of the Heart's deficiency, usurping the Sovereign's authority. When Fire moves, Water also moves. Over time, this forms dream images leading to seminal emission. Consequently, the Jade Gate (Jinguan, referring to the spermatic gate) fails to close, leading to emission even without dreams. This is caused by simultaneous pathology in the Heart, Liver, and Kidney meridians, resulting in deficiency of both Water and Fire. Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is indeed a holy medicine for supplementing the Heart, Liver, and Kidney. Moreover, since it does not mix with other flavors, its power is particularly focused, allowing it to directly enter the three meridians to achieve complete efficacy. For other conditions such as restless sleep due to dreams, dim vision, and weakness in both feet, doses of one to two taels can be used. When combined with Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudihuang), Atractylodes Rhizome (Baizhu), and Cornus Fruit (Shanzhuyu), it often achieves miraculous results. The ancients said: "It can cut off sexual intercourse driven by thought." This is not entirely true.
Someone asks: Since Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) can achieve success when used in large amounts, why was it never revealed throughout history until you showed its miracle? I reply: The secrets of Xuanyuan (Yellow Emperor) and Qibo have not been transmitted to the world for a long time. I personally received the true transmission from Master Qibo and kept it secret. Thus, the Way of Xuanyuan and Qibo starts transmission through me and ends through me. Therefore, I prefer to transmit it to the world, so that although contemporaries may doubt and dare not use it, it is absolutely necessary to transmit it so that future generations do not remain ignorant of how to use it.
Some suspect that Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is a rootless herb growing on trees, so its therapeutic effect should depend on other herbs, seemingly unsuitable for exclusive use. Alas, what a strange argument! Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is a divine medicine. Is there any rootless plant like it in the world? No. Therefore, its therapeutic effects possess inconceivable miracles. The disease of nocturnal emission in humans is also a strange disease; forming ideas out of nowhere and entering dreams out of nowhere also possesses inconceivable miracles. Although the *Ling Shu Jing* (Spiritual Pivot) has a chapter on "Lustful Evil Causing Dreams," detailing dream symptoms, it ultimately fails to explain the cause of entering dreams. Even sages find it difficult to articulate. Using Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) to treat nocturnal emission is using an unusual herb to treat unusual dreams. The efficacy is immediate and responsive, possessing inconceivable miracles. I did not expect the world to contain so many wonders. However, what is remarkable about Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) treating nocturnal emission is not the treatment itself, but my discussion of it, allowing us to elucidate its wonder together. Precisely because of its wonder, Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) achieves extraordinary results when used exclusively; why must it rely on combination with other herbs to succeed? ([Commentary] The logic is clear and the mind is unburdened; the writing is smooth and the words shine. To say it is divinely assisted is indeed true.)
Someone asks: Treating nocturnal emission with Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is miraculous; can it treat other diseases and achieve miraculous results? Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) actually does more than treat nocturnal emission; it can also maintain strong erections without collapse. Using one to two taels of the single herb, decocted in water and taken orally, results in firmness without emission. Some may not believe in the miracle of my prescription. They do not know that Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is truly a divine medicine; using spirit to address spirit contains profound truth. ([Commentary] The prescription is miraculous, and the theory is even more so; the brilliance lies in stating profound truths.) People who ejaculate easily during intercourse do so because the Spirit of the Heart Sovereign is initially timid. When the Spirit of the Heart is timid, the Spirit of Ministerial Fire becomes vigorous. When the Spirit of Ministerial Fire is vigorous, erection occurs easily, and collapse follows easily. When the Spirit of the Heart is vigorous, the Spirit of Ministerial Fire becomes solemn and dares not offend the Sovereign, thus the Sovereign's authority is respected. When the Sovereign's authority is respected, commands are unified and unshakable. Therefore, if erection does not occur, fine; once it occurs, it is firm and unlikely to collapse. Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) can calm the Spirit of the Heart Sovereign and further supplement the Qi of the Pericardium. This simultaneously supplements Sovereign Fire and Ministerial Fire; how could Yang not become strong? Moreover, Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi) is excellent at supplementing essence and marrow, boosting the vigor of Yang without damaging the decline of Yin. Thus, maintaining strong erections without collapse can be done without worry, avoiding the error of Yin deficiency with hyperactive Fire. Although I created this theory to proclaim the magic of Semen Cuscutae (Tusizi), it is not to promote licentiousness. If Yang Fire is weak, taking this prescription can benefit health and aid conception. However, if Yin deficiency with abundant Fire exists, taking this prescription will inevitably cause disaster from hyperactive deficient Yang, potentially leading to consumptive diseases (*Lao Zhai*) that are incurable. In such cases, the fault is not mine.
