消渴不止，冬瓜一枚，烧熟绞汁饮之。（验方第一。）

一切水气肿喘，冬瓜一枚去瓤，以赤小豆填满，泥纸固济，糯、粳糠煨熟，取出焙末丸

刀疮神药，古锻石、新锻石、丝瓜根叶、韭菜根等分，捣千下作饼阴干，为末搽之。止

鼻流臭黄，丝瓜藤烧末酒下。（十八。）
冬瓜：味甘，性寒，无毒。能通利小便并缓解口渴，消除肿胀并驱除水湿。可清除心胸部的烦热，解除因热毒引起的痈肿。
丝瓜：味甘，性平，无毒。能润泽面部、去除黑斑，滋润肌肤、增强耐饥能力，祛除烦躁、解除忧愁，补益肝脏、明亮视力。
治疗消渴症不止，取冬瓜一枚，烧熟后绞取汁液饮用。（验方第一。）
治疗各种类型的渴痢（伴有口渴的痢疾）、肢体浮肿、口舌干燥，用泥土包裹煨熟，取汁液服用。（第二。）
治疗小儿渴痢，取冬瓜汁液服用。（第三。）
治疗所有类型的水气肿喘，取冬瓜一枚去掉瓤，用赤小豆填满，用泥纸密封固定，用糯米和粳米的糠壳煨熟，取出焙干研末制成丸药，用瓜子汤送服。（第四。）
治疗水肿危急重症，任意生食冬瓜，效果神奇。（第五。）
治疗发背疮（背部严重的痈疽）即将危及生命时，切去冬瓜头部，覆盖在疮口上，瓜肉腐烂后再切去头部重新覆盖。只要瓜没烂完，疮口就已经缩小好转了。之后再用膏药贴敷。（第六。）
治疗痔疮肿痛，用冬瓜煎汤清洗患处。（第七。）
治疗面色黝黑想变白，取冬瓜一枚，用竹刀去皮切片，加酒和水煮烂，去渣熬成膏状，用瓶子收藏，每晚涂抹。（第八。）
治疗明目美容，将瓜仁洗净做成丸药服用。（第九。）
治疗男子白浊（尿道滴白），将瓜子仁炒成粉末，每次用米汤送服五钱。（第十。）

黄瓜：味甘，性寒，有小毒。能清热解渴，利水并促使疮疡发出。
治疗小儿热痢，食用嫩黄瓜加蜂蜜。（验方第一。）
治疗水肿导致腹胀、肢体浮肿，取黄瓜一枚切开，连同种子一起放入醋中煮至半烂，空腹将两半全部吃下。（第二。）
霜降后的丝瓜更好。丝瓜子最擅长泻下大便。
丝瓜：味甘，性平，无毒。能凉血解毒，祛风化痰，下乳消肿，促进痘疹发出并退热。
治疗痘疹出不顺畅，将老丝瓜烧成粉末，用砂糖水送服。（验方第一。）
治疗痈疽久不愈合，捣取丝瓜汁频繁涂抹患处。（第二。）
治疗肺热引起的面部痤疮，与皂角一起烧成粉末，用油调和敷用。（第三。）
治疗阴茎疮溃烂，取丝瓜汁同五倍子粉末搽涂患处。（第四。）
治疗手足冻疮，烧成粉末同猪脂混合敷用。（第五。）
治疗肠风下血（便血），取霜后干丝瓜，烧成粉末用酒送服。（第六。）
治疗下血危重，烧成炭，同槐花一起研末，每次用米汤送服二钱。（第七。）
治疗酒痢（因饮酒引发的痢疾）脓血便，烧成粉末用酒送服。（第八。）
治疗崩漏出血不止，同棕榈皮一起烧成粉末，用盐酒送服。（第九。）
治疗乳房胀痛不通，烧成粉末用酒送服，以出汗为度。（第十。）
治疗腹痛，疼痛环绕肚脐冲撞心脏，这是小肠气病。烧成粉末用酒送服。（第十一。）
治疗腰痛不止，用瓜子仁烧成粉末用酒送服，并将药渣敷在患处。另外取丝瓜根烧成粉末用酒送服。（第十二。）
治疗化痰止咳，烧成粉末，用枣肉做成如弹子大小的丸药，每次用酒送服一丸。（第十三。）
治疗风虫牙痛，取霜后的丝瓜烧成粉末搽涂患处。（第十四。）
治疗小儿浮肿，同灯心草、葱白一起煎服，并煎汤外洗。（第十五。）
治疗偏坠（疝气睾丸肿大下垂），将丝瓜叶、鸡蛋壳共同烧成粉末用酒送服。（第十六。）
治疗刀伤的神效药物，古锻石、新锻石、丝瓜根叶、韭菜根等量，捣一千下做成饼状阴干，研成粉末搽涂患处。止血定痛生肌效果神奇。（第十七。）

Winter Melon: Sweet in taste, cold in nature, non-toxic. It promotes urination and relieves thirst, reduces swelling and expels water. It clears vexing heat from the chest and heart, and resolves toxic heat sores and abscesses.
Luffa Fruit (Si Gua): Sweet in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic. It moistens the face and removes dark spots, nourishes the skin and increases resistance to hunger, dispels vexation and relieves sorrow, tonifies the Liver and brightens the eyes.
For unrelenting Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst), take one Winter Melon, roast until cooked, squeeze out the juice and drink it. (Verified Formula 1.)
For various types of Ke Li (Thirsty Dysentery), limb edema, and dry mouth, wrap the melon in mud and bake/roast it, then take the juice. (Formula 2.)
For pediatric Ke Li, take Winter Melon juice and ingest it. (Formula 3.)
For all types of Water Qi Edema and wheezing, take one Winter Melon, remove the pulp, fill it with Adzuki Beans (Chi Xiao Dou), seal tightly with mud and paper, bake thoroughly using bran from glutinous rice and common rice, take out, dry, powder, and make into pills. Swallow with seed decoction. (Formula 4.)
For critical Water Disease (Edema), eat raw Winter Melon at will; the effect is miraculous. (Formula 5.)
For Fa Bei (Back Carbuncle) approaching death, cut off the head of the Winter Melon and apply it to the wound. When the melon rots, cut off the head again and reapply. As long as the melon is not exhausted, the sore will have shrunk and improved. Then apply a plaster. (Formula 6.)
For hemorrhoid swelling and pain, wash the area with decoction made from Winter Melon. (Formula 7.)
To lighten darkened skin, take one Winter Melon, peel with a bamboo knife, slice, boil until soft with wine and water, remove dregs, boil down into a paste, store in a jar, and apply every night. (Formula 8.)
To brighten the eyes and beautify the complexion, clean the seeds, make into pills, and swallow. (Formula 9.)
For male Bai Zhuo (White Turbidity/Urethral Discharge), stir-fry the seeds until powdered, take 5 qian each time with rice water. (Formula 10.)
For Le Dai (Leukorrhea). Same method as above. (Formula 11.)
Cucumber: Sweet in taste, cold in nature, slightly toxic. Clears heat and relieves thirst, promotes urination and induces eruption of sores.
For pediatric Re Li (Heat Dysentery), eat tender Cucumber with honey. (Verified Formula 1.)
For Water Disease causing abdominal distension and limb edema, take one Cucumber, cut open, cook half-way to softness with vinegar including the seeds, and eat both halves on an empty stomach. (Formula 2.)
Sponge Gourd (Si Gua) after frost is best. Sponge Gourd Seeds are most effective for purging the bowels.
Sponge Gourd Fruit: Sweet in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic. Cools blood and resolves toxicity, dispels wind and transforms phlegm, promotes lactation and reduces swelling, induces eruption of smallpox and relieves fever.
For slow eruption of smallpox, burn old Luffa fruit to ash/powder, take with sugar water. (Verified Formula 1.)
For non-healing carbuncles and ulcers, crush to extract juice and apply frequently. (Formula 2.)
For facial acne due to Lung Heat, burn together with Soap Pod (Zao Jiao) to powder, mix with oil and apply. (Formula 3.)
For ulcerated sores on the penis, take juice mixed with Powdered Gallic Acid (Wu Bei Zi) and apply. (Formula 4.)
For chilblains on hands and feet, burn to powder, mix with lard and apply. (Formula 5.)
For Chang Feng Xia Xue (Wind-intestinal bleeding/hematochezia), take dried Sponge Gourd after frost, burn to powder, take with wine. (Formula 6.)
For critical lower bleeding, char it, mix with Sophora Flower (Huai Hua) powder, take 2 qian each time with rice water. (Formula 7.)
For Jiuli Nong Xue (Alcoholic dysentery with pus and blood), burn to powder, take with wine. (Formula 8.)
For continuous Beng Xue (Metrorrhagia/Metrorrhaxis), burn together with Palm Tree Stamen (Zong Lu) to powder, take with salted wine. (Formula 9.)
For breast distension and blockage, burn to powder, take with wine to induce sweating. (Formula 10.)
For abdominal pain radiating around the navel to the heart, known as Xiao Chang Qi (Small Intestine Qi disorder), burn to powder, take with wine. (Formula 11.)
For unremitting lower back pain, use Sponge Gourd Seed powder taken with wine, and apply the dregs topically. Also, take root powder with wine. (Formula 12.)
To transform phlegm and stop coughing, burn to powder, mix with jujube flesh to make pills the size of a bullet, take one pill with wine each time. (Formula 13.)
For Wind-Worm toothache, apply powder of Sponge Gourd after frost. (Formula 14.)
For pediatric edema, decoct together with Rush Pith (Deng Cao) and scallion white, drink the decoction and wash externally. (Formula 15.)
For Pian Zhui (Inguinal Hernia/Testicular Swelling), burn Sponge Gourd leaves and eggshell together to powder, take with wine. (Formula 16.)
Divine medicine for knife wounds: Equal parts of Ancient Calcined Iron Ore (Gu Duan Shi), New Calcined Iron Ore (Xin Duan Shi), Sponge Gourd root and leaves, and Chinese Chive root. Pound for a thousand times to form cakes, dry in shade, powder, and apply. Stops bleeding, alleviates pain, and generates tissue miraculously. (Formula 17.)
For foul-smelling yellow nasal discharge, burn Sponge Gourd vine to powder, take with wine. (Formula 18.)
