有大、小二种，其花千瓣成簇，大者曰玉粉团，初青后白。小者曰洋粉团，青色转白，

性寒，熏臭虫，同水龙骨、雷公藤和烧熏之，立除（百草镜）。

纲目玉簪条载根叶之用，独不言其花。今人取其含蕊实铅粉其中，饭锅上蒸过，云能去

花性微毒，治小便不通，汇集方玉龙散中用之。
治癣第一灵丹 宝志遗方∶鲜玉簪花三百朵，（为泥），母丁香六两，沉香四两，冰片三
钱，
麝香三钱，山西城砖十二两，共为末，用真麻油三斤半，熬熟；陈年锻石半斤，滴水成珠为
度，候冷，收瓷罐内，黄腊封固，埋土内，二十一日取出，敷患处自愈。此药可久贮，勿使
泄气。
治杖破 玉簪花，手排熟，贴伤处。
清凉膏 张卿子秘方∶贴疳疯毒。大黄、黄柏、黄连、黄芩、郁金、皮硝、白芨、独脚
莲、
天花粉、玉簪花，共研细末，鸡子清调敷，留顶。又二香追毒饮，治肚心痈。羌活、连翘、
紫苏、甘草、白芷、防风、银花、天花粉、肉桂、黄 、乳香、木香、沉香、芍药、生地、
枳壳、黄芩、柴胡、前胡、茯苓、玉簪花，水煎，食后服。
山海草函∶玉簪花入韶粉内，敷疳疮蛀梗。
玉龙散 治小便不通∶用玉簪花、蛇蜕各二钱，丁香一钱，共为末，每服一钱，酒调送

性寒，可熏杀臭虫，与水龙骨、雷公藤一起焚烧熏蒸，臭虫立刻被清除（出自《百草镜》）。
治疗肾囊风 姚伯玉方：用粉团花七朵，水煎后清洗患处。《良方集要》：用蛇床子、涩上野苋球花、根治疗喉烂 《传效方》：取生长在土内的部分为好，用醋研磨，以羽毛蘸取涂抹患处，流出涎液即痊愈。
《纲目》在玉簪条中记载了根和叶的用途，唯独没有提到花。现在人们取其含有花蕊并填充铅粉的玉簪花，放在饭锅上蒸过，据说能去除铅气，且香气渗透进粉内，妇女用来敷面，可以避免长痣的隐患（其叶子晒干后，可以熏杀壁虱使其绝迹）。
花性微毒，治疗小便不通，《汇集方》玉龙散中使用它。
治疗癣的第一灵丹 宝志遗方：鲜玉簪花三百朵（捣成泥），母丁香六两，沉香四两，冰片三钱，麝香三钱，山西城砖十二两，共同研为细末，用真麻油三斤半，熬熟；加入陈年锻石半斤，以滴水成珠为度，冷却后装入瓷罐，用黄蜡密封，埋入土中二十一天后取出，敷于患处即可自愈。此药可以长期储存，不要使其漏气。
治疗杖打破损 玉簪花，用手揉熟，贴敷在受伤处。
清凉膏 张卿子秘方：贴敷疳疯毒。大黄、黄柏、黄连、黄芩、郁金、皮硝、白芨、独脚莲、天花粉、玉簪花，共同研为细末，用鸡蛋清调和敷涂，留出头顶部位。又有二香追毒饮，治疗肚心痈。羌活、连翘、紫苏、甘草、白芷、防风、银花、天花粉、肉桂、黄[缺字]、乳香、木香、沉香、芍药、生地、枳壳、黄芩、柴胡、前胡、茯苓、玉簪花，水煎，饭后服用。

Root Appendix
There are two types, large and small. Their flowers have thousands of petals clustered together. The large one is called Yufen Tuan (Jade Powder Cluster), initially green then turning white. The small one is called Yangfen Tuan (Foreign Powder Cluster), changing from green to white, and from white to red-blue. The large one is used for medicinal purposes.
Nature: Cold. It can fumigate and kill bedbugs; when burned and fumigated with Polyporus umbellatus (Shuilonggu) and Tripterygium wilfordii (Leigongteng), the bugs are eliminated immediately (from *Baicao Jing*).
Treating Scrotal Wind (Scrotal Eczema) - Yao Boyu's Formula: Use seven flowers of Fentuan Hua, decoct in water and wash. *Liangfang Jiyao*: Use Cnidium monnieri (Shechuangzi), Amaranthus hybridus (Se Shang Yexian Qiu Hua), and root to treat throat ulceration. *Chuanxiao Fang*: Take the part growing underground, grind with vinegar, dip a feather in it, and sweep the affected area; healing occurs when saliva discharges.
*Bencao Gangmu* records the uses of the root and leaves of Yuzan Hua (Hosta plantaginea) but does not mention its flower. Nowadays, people take the Yuzan Hua containing stamens filled with lead powder, steam it over a rice cooker, claiming it removes the toxicity of lead, and its fragrance permeates the powder. Women use it to apply to the face to avoid the risk of moles (its dried leaves can fumigate and eliminate bedbugs).
Flower Nature: Slightly toxic. Used to treat urinary retention; it is used in *Huiji Fang*'s Yulong San.
The First Miraculous Pill for Treating Tinea - Baozhi's Lost Formula: 300 fresh Yuzan Hua flowers (mashed into paste), 6 liang of Mother Clove (Mudingxiang), 4 liang of Agarwood (Chenxiang), 3 qian of Borneol (Bingpian), 3 qian of Musk (Shexiang), 12 liang of Shanxi City Brick. Grind all into fine powder. Add 3.5 jin of true sesame oil and boil until cooked; add 0.5 jin of aged calcined stone (Duanshi), boiling until a drop forms a bead upon cooling. Store in a porcelain jar after cooling, seal with yellow wax, bury in soil for 21 days, then take out and apply to the affected area for self-healing. This medicine can be stored for a long time; do not let it lose its aroma.
Treating Bruises from Blows: Mash Yuzan Hua by hand until soft, and apply to the injured area.
Qingliang Gao (Cooling Ointment) - Zhang Qingzi's Secret Formula: For applying to Gan Feng Du (Childhood Malnutrition with Toxins). Rhubarb (Dahuang), Phellodendron bark (Huangbai), Coptis rhizome (Huanglian), Scutellaria root (Huangqin), Curcuma aromatica (Yujin), Niter (Pixiao), Bletilla striata (Baiji), Solena amplexicaulis (Dujiolian), Trichosanthes root (Tianhuafen), Yuzan Hua. Grind all into fine powder, mix with egg white for application, leaving the crown exposed. Also, Erxiang Zhuidu Yin treats abdominal carbuncle. Notopterygium root (Qianghuo), Forsythia fruit (Lianqiao), Perilla leaf (Zisu), Licorice root (Gancao), Angelica dahurica (Baizhi), Saposhnikovia root (Fangfeng), Honeysuckle flower (Yinhua), Trichosanthes root (Tianhuafen), Cinnamon twig (Rougui), [Missing Character], Frankincense (Ruxiang), Costus root (Muxiang), Agarwood (Chenxiang), Peony root (Shaoyao), Rehmannia root (Shengdi), Aurantium fruit (Zhike), Scutellaria root (Huangqin), Bupleurum root (Chaihu), Peucedanum root (Qianhu), Poria (Fuling), Yuzan Hua. Decoct in water and take after meals.
*Shanhai Caohan*: Mix Yuzan Hua into Shaofen (Powder) and apply to Gan Chuang Zhugeng (Ulcerative Sores with Bone Exposure).
Yulong San (Jade Dragon Powder) for Treating Urinary Retention: Use 2 qian of Yuzan Hua and 2 qian of Snake Slough (Shetui), 1 qian of Clove (Dingxiang). Grind into powder. Take 1 qian each time, mixed with wine and swallowed. (
