[Collected Explanations] Li Shizhen stated: There are twenty-four solar terms in a year, each governing half a month. The nature and flavor of water change accordingly; this is due to the mutual resonance between Heaven and Earth's climatic conditions, not limited by geographical boundaries. *Yueling Tongzuan* records: From the first to the twelfth day of the first lunar month, each day corresponds to one month. Each morning, weigh water using a clay bottle; if heavy, there will be abundant rain; if light, little rain. Thus, even within a single day, differences exist, let alone across a month. Water stored during the Lichun (Start of Spring) and Qingming (Clear and Bright) solar terms is called "Divine Water."
[Therapeutic Functions] Suitable for soaking and preparing pills, powders, and medicinal wines for treating various wind-pathogens and spleen-stomach deficiency injuries; it remains unspoiled over long periods.
Water from the Hanlu (Cold Dew), Dongzhi (Winter Solstice), Xiaohan (Minor Cold), and Dahan (Major Cold) solar terms, as well as water from La Yue (the twelfth lunar month).
[Therapeutic Functions] Suitable for soaking and preparing pills that tonify the five Zang organs and treat phlegm-fire, accumulations, and insect/toxin poisons; also used for brewing medicinal wines. Its efficacy is equivalent to that of snow water.
Well water drawn at dawn on the day of Liqiu (Start of Autumn), known as Jinghua Water (First Well Water).
[Therapeutic Functions] Drinking one cup regardless of age can prevent malaria, dysentery, and myriad diseases.
Water drawn at noon on the day of Wuduan (Dragon Boat Festival).
[Therapeutic Functions] Suitable for preparing pills for treating malaria, dysentery, sores, ulcers, metal wounds, and various insect/bewitchment toxins.
Water collected during the Xiaoman (Grain Buds), Mangzhong (Grain in Ear), and Bailu (White Dew) solar terms.
[Therapeutic Functions] All possess toxicity. Used for making medicines, brewing wine, vinegar, or any food, they spoil easily. Human consumption induces spleen and stomach disorders (All above noted by Li Shizhen).

[Names] Ganquan (Sweet Spring).
Li Shizhen stated: "Li" refers to thin sweet wine; the spring tastes like it, hence the name. It has no fixed source. When a ruler's virtue reaches deep springs and the era is peaceful, Ganquan emerges, suitable for nourishing the elderly. *Ruiying Tu* records: Ganquan is the essence of water, sweet as wine; where it flows, grasses and trees flourish; drinking it prolongs life. *Dongguan Ji* records: In the first year of Zhongyuan under Emperor Guangwu, Ganquan appeared in the capital; those who drank it were cured of chronic ailments.
[Flavor and Nature] Sweet, neutral, non-toxic.
[Therapeutic Functions] For heart and abdominal pain, Zhuwu (infectious disease with wandering pathogen), ghostly qi, and evil turbidity, drink facing the spring on an empty stomach. Furthermore, it is superior for treating heat-induced thirst (Xiaoke) and regurgitation/vomiting-dysentery (Fanwei Huoluan); newly drawn water is best (Cited from Chen Cangqi).
