The variety from Persia has golden thread-like patterns when broken, called Jin Xian Fan (Gold-line Alum), and can reveal decorative patterns when used to sharpen swords and knives. *Dan Fang Jing Yuan* states: "Wu Se Shan Zhi" (Five-colored Mountain Fat) refers to Wu Huangfan (Wu Yellow Alum).
