Pheasant Meat: Sour in taste, slightly cold in nature, non-toxic. Primarily tonifies the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner), boosts Qi and strength, stops diarrhea and dysentery, and eliminates parasitic infestations (symbolized by insects like ants).
Although the pheasant does not belong to the Earthly Branch "Chen" (Dragon), it is precisely the bird associated with the Li Trigram (Li represents Fire; the pheasant is a fire-associated bird). It should not be consumed on Bing-Wu days (days of strong Fire), as this indicates its dominance over Fire. (Cited from *Xinxiu Bencao* p. 232, *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 19, *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 403)
Indicated for trauma caused by beating or flogging, and for eliminating scars.
Using only white-colored herbs alone cannot eliminate scars. One should combine them with other medicinal materials, such as *Bombyx Batryticatus* (Stiff Silkworm) and *Tyula Phalaenoides* (Clothes Moth Larva), to prepare an ointment. (Cited from *Xinxiu Bencao* p. 232, *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 19, *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 402)
Sparrow Meat: Sour in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. Primarily directs Qi downward, treats male impotence (failure of erection), promotes erection and warmth, increases semen production, and aids fertility.
Sparrow Brain: Indicated for deafness.
Sparrow Head Blood: Indicated for Nyctalopia (Night Blindness).
Male Sparrow Droppings: Indicated for eye pain, resolution of carbuncles and furuncles, treatment of leukorrhea in women, difficult urination, and elimination of hernia and mass accumulation (Zheng Jia). Collected in the fifth lunar month for best efficacy. The sparrow's nature favors Yin-Yang interaction, so its eggs have similar effects.
Medical texts state: Consuming Sparrow Eggs (*Passer Domesticus Ovipus*) with *Tianxiong Wan* (Aconite Pill) can enlarge the penis and prevent decline. Humans who cannot see at dusk are said to suffer from Nyctalopia, which is treated with Sparrow Head Blood. Male Sparrow Droppings are those pointed at both ends and also treat dental caries. Sparrow meat should not be eaten with plums, nor should it be eaten with soy sauce; it is especially contraindicated for pregnant women. (Cited from *Xinxiu Bencao* p. 233, *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 19, *Zhenghe Bencao* p. 401)
Stork Meat: Sweet in taste, non-toxic. Indicated for various toxic conditions caused by ghosts and Gu poison, Wushi diseases (Five Corpse diseases), and heart/abdominal disorders.
There are two types of storks: those resembling swans that nest in trees are called White Storks (*Ciconia ciconia*), and those that are black with curved necks are called Yangwu Storks. Currently, the white variety is preferred for use. (Cited from *Xinxiu Bencao* p. 234)
Magpie Brain: Sweet in taste, cold in nature, non-toxic. Indicated for Lithiasis (Stone Strangury), resolving accumulated heat. It can be burned into ash; if thrown into water and disperses/dissolves, it is identified as male Magpie Brain.
Collected on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month for use by herbalists, also known as Feibo Wu. Distinguishing male and female birds is difficult. Old sayings state that if the left wing covers the right, it is male; if the right covers the left, it is female. Another method says burning feathers into powder and placing them in water: sinking indicates male, floating indicates female. The current method of throwing stones to see if they disperse may apply only to magpies, and likely not to other birds; this has not yet been fully verified.
