[图片:pj419a.bmp]
[图片:pj419a1.bmp]

[图片:pj420a.bmp]

[图片:pj421a.bmp]
[图片:pj421a2.bmp]
Shiyan (Stone Swallow)
Shishe (Stone Snake)
Shixie (Stone Crab)
Taste: Salty. Nature: Cold. Non-toxic. Resembles the shape of a living crab, produced in distant coastal prefectures. It is said that this is sea crabs that have been in contact with water for many years and transformed into stone. Drifted out by wind and tides, people can only obtain them. They are often mixed with coarse stones and mud; when used, they must be cleaned thoroughly and ground finely. Processed by floating in clear water, they assist other medicines to achieve their effects. They treat pterygium, swelling, and pain in the eyes, and resolve poisoning and gu distension within the abdomen. They calm carbuncles and eliminate rashes (apply externally after grinding with vinegar), induce labor, or expel dead fetuses.
Shishe (Stone Snake) coils like a snake but lacks head and tail. Although its internal nature is similar to Shixie (Stone Crab), it is unknown what object transformed into it. Those coiling to the left are considered superior and are extremely effective in resolving the toxicity of metallic and mineral substances.
Shiyan (Stone Swallow) has a cool nature and resembles a swallow in appearance. Decocted in water and taken as juice, it is effective in treating Lin syndrome (dysuria). For women experiencing difficult childbirth, holding one in each hand yields immediate results; for patients suffering from Xiaoke (wasting-thirst syndrome), taken with water...
Wumingyi from Guangzhou
[Image: pj420.bmp]
Wumingyi from Yizhou
[Image: pj420a.bmp]
Taste: Sweet. Nature: Neutral. Non-toxic. Originates from within the lands of Da Shi (Arabia/Persia region) (also found today in Guangzhou and Yizhou), growing among rocks in mountain valleys. Large pieces resemble bullet seeds, small ones like chestnuts. (It is also said that small ones resemble inkstone stones.) The color is blackish-brown, and chewing it tastes sweet like maltose syrup. When chicken blood is dripped on it, it turns into water. It specifically treats traumatic injuries and fractures; applied topically after grinding with vinegar. It removes blood stasis, stops pain, and promotes tissue regeneration.
(Chen Jiamo) Commentary: People in Hainan say that there is a stone called "Wumingyi," which is rare. There is also a herb called "Wumingyi," which locals do not value highly. Could it be that what is described in the *Shennong Bencao Jing* is the stone, while what exists now is the herb?
Jinxing Shi (Venus Stone)
Jin Xie from Yizhou
[Image: pj421a.bmp]
Sheng Jin from Xinzhou
[Image: pj421a2.bmp]
Taste: Sweet. Nature: Neutral. Toxic. Another view states: Nature is mostly cold, non-toxic. Found everywhere, especially abundant in Yizhou (Sichuan province, now Chengdu Prefecture). Different harvesting methods result in different colors and shapes. Wheat-flake gold washed in sifting sand becomes pale yellow; melon-seed gold (some in granular lumps) obtained from mountain rocks appears deep red. It is also said that gold from the northwest is lighter in color, while gold from the southeast is darker, due to local soil suitability. It fears mercury and tin; accidental contact causes discoloration. It interacts harmoniously with Phyllanthus emblica (Yuganzi), becoming pliable. Ancient formulas such as Zixue San (Purple Snow Powder) use it, likely borrowing its natural qi. The term "Xie" (flakes/shavings) implies it must be ground into powder. It can be decocted after washing gold vessels, or ground gold leaf can be taken with herbal decoctions. Raw gold powder refined through smelting should never be administered recklessly. If poisoned internally, Partridge meat can detoxify. It dispels evil pathogens, kills toxins, clears heat, and drives away vexation. It calms the soul, nourishes the heart spirit, strengthens bone marrow, and harmonizes blood vessels. It prevents manic epilepsy and convulsive disorders. In pediatrics, it is essential as a coating for pills and ingots. Metallic minerals can strengthen and fatten the limbs, preserve youth, and boost yang. Gold paste can grant longevity and immortality, extending life. Jin Ya (Gold Sprouts) also appear golden; after calcination to remove impurities, they are suitable for use; they specifically treat miasma-related wasting diseases, wind toxins, and Gui Zhu (ghostly transmission) illnesses. (Sun Simiao treated these conditions with Da Jin Ya San and Xiao Jin Ya San.) Jinxing Shi (Venus Stone) contains clusters of star-like spots resembling wheat flakes, originating from Hao Zhou (Fengyang). It treats lung damage causing coughing and hemoptysis.
