(Also known as "Shidu" [Time Toxin] in the Surgery category.)
This condition presents with Yin and Yang patterns; some cases are suitable for diaphoresis (sweating therapy), while others are not. The symptoms manifest as redness, swelling, and pain on the head, back of the head, neck, cheeks, jaw, and eyes, accompanied by fever. The presentation resembles Shaoyang disease (Taiyang disease). Treatment methods are scattered across various medical texts and will not be elaborated upon here. The acupuncture bleeding method mentioned earlier is also effective.
Dali Zi Wan (Arctii Fructus Pill): Also treats Yazhang (Mute Malaria/Plague characterized by aphonia).
Ingredients: Xuanshen Radix Scrophulariae (Scrophularia Root), Lianqiao Forsythiae Fructum (Forsythia Fruit) (devoid of septa), Gancao Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Licorice Root), Jiegeng Platycodonis Radix (Balloon Flower Root), Chuan Dahuang Rheum Radix et Rhizoma (Rhubarb Root) (use raw or cooked as appropriate), Shigypsum Fibrosum (Gypsum Fibrosum) (crushed and ground), Chuan Lian Coptidis Rhizoma (Coptis Rhizome) (stir-fried with wine), Huangqin Scutellariae Radix (Scutellaria Root) (stir-fried with wine), Jingjie Schizonepetae Spica (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng Saposhnikoviae Radix (Saposhnikovia Root), Qianghuo Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Notopterygium Rhizome), Dali Zi (Arctii Fructus) (stir-fried and ground).

Another prescription: Jiangcan Bombyx Batryticatus (Silkworm) (2 liang, soaked), Dahuang Rheum Radix et Rhizoma (Rhubarb Root) (2 liang).
Preparation: Use ginger juice to coat and form pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill mixed with honey water.
Another prescription: Puji Xiaodu Yin (Puji Detoxifying Decoction) (see *Yifang JiJie*, specifically for early-stage Datouwen [Big Head Plague]).
Another prescription: For Datouwen causing facial nodules and Houbi (throat closure), puncture the nodules to release blood, which leads to recovery.
In cases where symptoms present with chest elevation and rib distension, vomiting blood-like fluid, Shengxi Yin (Raw Rhinoceros Horn Decoction) is indicated.
Shengxi Yin
Ingredients: Huangtu Raw Earth (5 qian), Xijiao Rhinocerotis Cornu (Rhinoceros Horn) (2 qian, shaved thin), Cangzu Atractylodis Rhizoma (Atractylodes Rhizome) (soaked in rice water, stir-fried with oil), Chuan Lian Coptidis Rhizoma (Coptis Rhizome), Shancha Camelliae Flos (Camellia Flower) (a pinch).
Usage: Decoct with running water, mix with Jinzhi (Human Feces Clear Liquid), and take orally. Three times during the day and twice at night. If deficiency exists, add Renshen Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Ginseng Root) (stir-fried with salt water); if constipation occurs, add Dahuang; if thirst is present, add Huafen Trichosanthis Radix (Trichosanthes Root); if exterior heat is prominent, remove Cangzhu and Huangtu, and add Guizhi Cinnamomi Ramulus (Cinnamon Twig); (Note: Guizhi is hot in nature and may seem inappropriate; consider adding other exterior-resolving herbs instead.) If dysentery with pus and blood occurs, remove Cangzhu, double the amount of Huangtu, and add Huangbai Phellodendri Cortex (Phellodendron Bark); if loose stools occur, replace Jinzhi with Renzhonghuang Human Medicated Soil.
(Symptoms resemble Yangmei [Bayberry].)
This condition manifests as purple patches all over the body, suddenly appearing like Meichuang (Measles-like rash). Use Qingre Jiedu Tang (Clear Heat and Detoxify Decoction) to administer Renzhonghuang Wan (Human Medicated Soil Pill), and puncture the patches to release blood. ("Mei" sounds like "Mei," referring to discoloration due to dampness.)
