When the disease first appears, the patient feels dizzy, mentally chaotic, and restless. Gradually, pain in the heart and abdomen develops, which indicates this condition. There are acute and chronic variations; in acute cases, death occurs immediately. Urgent treatment involves pricking the inner white skin of the medial canthus with a silver needle (if no silver needle is available, an iron needle may be used), as well as the tips of both ears, the tip of the nose, the fontanelle, and the temporalis region (see previous text). Healing occurs upon seeing blood. (This involves pricking the skin to express blood by twisting, not direct deep insertion.) Any case presenting with abdominal pain accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea belongs to this syndrome and is suitable for pricking therapy. At the onset, prick the tip of the nose first, then other areas. After pricking, take half a bowl of aged vinegar (use fresh vinegar if aged is unavailable), add a small amount of silver ware, and boil in a clay pot for three or four boiling cycles. Before administration, stir and grind within the vinegar using silver ware, and administer warm to instantly restore life. If treatment is delayed to a critical state, inspect under the root of the tongue for purple blisters; prick them open and rub with salt for cure.
(Named after the Jianwu era, obtained from captured enemies by Nanyang troops, hence the name.)
The symptoms manifest as macules and papules that rapidly cover the head, face, and entire body, resembling fire sores. Some have white pus on top, rupturing and draining continuously. (This sentence is difficult to interpret.) This toxin is extremely malignant. For urgent treatment, apply good honey to massage the sores, and wipe the area with Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) decocted in honey.
(Also known as sudden death from plague.)
When a person contracts plague, observing their symptoms and pulse shows they are not yet beyond saving. However, if they suddenly lose breath, become rigid, and even lack a palpable pulse, one must not panic or consider it the end of life; this is Plague Syncope (Yi Jue). Urgently use the gallbladder of a male fox collected in the twelfth lunar month, dissolve in warm water, and instill to revive. If the jaw is clenched, pry it open to instill. It is advisable to collect and store the male fox gallbladder in advance during the twelfth lunar month.
Songfeng says: In such cases, regardless of whether fox gallbladder is available, it is always advisable to first prick the Shaoshang point (LU11) and the thin flesh above the ten fingernails. (See previous text for acupuncture methods.) Extract the evil blood, and blow into the nostrils either high-quality Zhu Ya Zao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina) powder or more than ten pills of Lingbao Ruyi Dan from Beijing to save the patient.
(Similar to the preceding Plague combined with Sha syndrome and Yang Mao Ding, but the treatments for these three conditions differ significantly, so they are recorded together.)
During the Wanli era, a woman in Jintai who sold wool everywhere suddenly disappeared. Subsequently, people in the capital developed blistering tumors that grew larger, causing many deaths due to pain; inside the tumors were only wool fibers. A Daoist priest transmitted a formula: apply black soybean and Qiao Mai (Fagopyri Tatarici Granum, Tartary Buckwheat) powder to the affected area. The wool falls off, and the patient recovers. (" " pronounced Qiao. Suspected to be Tartary buckwheat common in the north.)
