For the treatment of constipation of both large and small bowels, where various medicines have been administered without effect, this method is applicable to all patients regardless of age.
Schizonepetae Spica (preferably from the tail and feet, thoroughly roasted, 2 qian) Trogopteri Dung (purified, 2 qian)
The above two ingredients are ground into a fine powder. Then, take 2 qian of Fructus Crotonis (Badi Dou), remove the shells, grind them into pieces, and mix with the aforementioned powder. Additionally, use 4 qian of Allii Sativi Bulbus, peel off three or four layers of the rough outer skin, and pound it in a mortar until it becomes a paste. Form this mixture into a cake and place it in the umbilicus, securing it with a silk cloth. Externally, warm it by rubbing with the palm of the hand for eight or nine times. When a slight rumbling sound is heard in the abdomen, the bowels will be unblocked.
For the treatment of sudden vomiting in the elderly and children, which persists despite medication, this formula is highly effective.
Folium Eriobotryae (cleaned, hairs removed from the underside, chopped, 2 liang) Rhizoma Pinelliae (crushed, purified, 4 liang)
Take 4 liang of Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, cut into pieces the size of mung beans, mix well with the above herbs, and let them ferment overnight. Slowly stir-fry until slightly charred. Spread on paper and place on the ground to cool. Take 2 qian per dose, add one zhan of water, decoct until reduced to seven-tenths, strain, and administer slowly in small amounts on an empty stomach. Alternatively, it can be decocted together with other medicines, which is also effective.
For the treatment of blood wind-related eye diseases in children, men, and women, which persist for a long time without improvement, causing day-and-night aching pain, blurred vision, and even diffuse nebula formation, where various medicines have failed:
Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (cleaned and dried) Radix Paeoniae Rubra Radix Chuanxiong Rhizomata Notopterygii Radix Angelicae Sinensis (washed with wine and dried) Radix Gentianae Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix Glycyrrhizae (eight ingredients, each 5 qian)
Crush the above ingredients. Take 2 qian per dose, add one zhan of water and half a spoonful of white honey, decoct until reduced to eight-tenths, strain, and take warm after meals and before bedtime.
Zeng Shirong's "Huoyou Xinshu" consists of three volumes: upper, middle, and lower. The upper volume contains poems and odes for determining syndromes; the middle volume covers discussions on fundamental theories and supplementary materials; the lower volume includes reliable and effective prescriptions and supplementary materials. I had previously seen this printed edition, which had many missing parts, so I did not include it. Later, I acquired another copy, which was not this edition. Upon returning a cabinet of medical books from Wuyan Lou to a friend in Haining, I facilitated the transaction and thus obtained this book. It has many missing pages, which were filled in by photocopying from another edition. This is the second copy I acquired, not the original printing. I had it rebound and recorded these origins here.
Recorded by Fu Weng Pielie, two days before the Mid-Autumn Festival in the Xinwei year of the Jiaqing era.
