The *Yizong Bidu* states: If a pregnant woman suddenly experiences severe stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen (commonly known as "intestine-collapsing colic" or *Jiaochangsha*), accompanied by chest oppression, syncope, and a sensation of impending death, this condition is termed "Zhong'e" (Sudden Invasion by Evil Qi). This occurs because evil qi invades the fetus and harms the mother. The reason for this is that the fetus relies on maternal blood and qi for nourishment, and blood and qi are the masters of spirit; if blood and qi are disharmonious, spiritual vitality weakens, allowing pathogenic toxic qi to invade. When a pregnant woman suffers from this disease, it also damages the fetus.
