Jiawei Sini Decoction: Treats women with difficult urination, and in severe cases, pain in the vaginal orifice.
Ingredients: Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed seven times with boiling water, 1 liang), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, processed with ginger juice), Chifuling (Polyporus with Red Mycelium), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, stir-fried, each 0.5 liang), Zisu (Perillae Folium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each 2 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Cut the ingredients into small pieces. Divide into four doses. For each dose, add 2 zhong of water and 3 slices of fresh ginger, decoct until reduced to 8 fen, strain the dregs, add 1 qian of Hupo (Succinis Pulvis) powder, mix well, and take orally.
Commentary: Using Banxia as the sovereign herb indicates that both internal and external factors can cause qi stagnation leading to dampness and phlegm formation. Xiangfu treats internal causes, Zisu treats external causes, while the remaining herbs address both to assist in achieving therapeutic success. However, without Hupo to open orifices and dry dampness, efficacy would not be achieved.
Suojing Pill: Treats white turbidity in urine or continuous dripping of leukorrhea.
Ingredients: Pogostemonis Herba (Poguozhi, stir-fried), Qingyan (Halitum), Baifuling (Poria Cocos with Hostwood), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the ingredients into fine powder, bind with wine paste to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach with salted water or wine.
Gu Jing Pill: Treats deficiency-cold of the lower jiao and cold uterus, presenting as white turbidity in urine resembling rice washings or congealed fat, frequent urination, and heavy sensation in the waist.
Ingredients: Muli (Ostreae Concha, calcined powder), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Ootheca, processed with wine), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae), Baishizhi (Kaolinite), Baifuling (Poria Cocos with Hostwood), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, steamed and baked with wine), Jiu Zi (Allii Tuberosi Semen, stir-fried, all in equal proportions).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, bind with wine paste to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 70 pills on an empty stomach with salted water.
Commentary: The Kan trigram represents Water, governed by the Kidney. The single yang line within Kan is the true qi of the Kidney. When qi is sufficient, water is abundant; when water is abundant, warmth is generated. Warmth ensures the lower origin is warm and the congenital essence remains intact. If white turbidity persists for a long time, resembling rice washings or fat, or if urination is uncontrolled, this indicates qi collapse. Qi collapse results in lack of fire in the lower jiao, causing water to become cold, thereby preventing the normal ascent of water and descent of fire. This formula secures collapsing qi, warms yang, and stores true fire, making it a crucial remedy for deficiency-cold syndromes. It is also suitable for men.
Neijin Lurong Pill: Treats women suffering from labor injury damaging blood vessels, cold invading the uterine collaterals, white turbidity in urine occurring day and night uncontrollably, pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions, and weakness in the waist and knees.
Ingredients: Lurong (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Neijin (Galli Gigerii Endothelium Corneum), Rongzhu (Cistanches Herba), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae), Muli (Ostreae Concha), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Ootheca), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, all in equal proportions).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, bind with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills before meals with warm wine or rice drink.
Commentary: Lurong, Rongzhu, Huangqi, and Fuzi have effects of benefiting essence, tonifying qi, and warming the kidney. Neijin, Muli, Sangpiaoxiao, and Longgu have astringent properties to prevent leakage. Wuweizi and Yuanzhi generate body fluids and enter the kidney to tonify righteous qi, clearly serving to tonify the lower jiao. Suitable for both men and women.
Jinsuo Zhengyuan Dan: Treats insufficiency of true qi, characterized by shortness of breath, limb fatigue, soreness and weakness of the legs and knees, blurred vision, tinnitus, spermatorrhea, night sweats, as well as white turbidity and leukorrhea in women.
Ingredients: Rongzhu (Cistanches Herba, washed and dried), Zijiba Ji (Morindae Officinalis Radix, heart removed), Huluba (Trigonellae Semen, stir-fried, each 1 jin), Buguzhi (Psoraleae Fructus, soaked in wine and stir-fried, 10 liang), Wubeizi (Myrobalanis Fructus, 0.5 jin), Fuling (Poria Cocos, peeled, 6 liang), Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 3 liang, ground separately), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, 2 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, mix evenly, bind with wine to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine or salted water.
Commentary: Rongzhu aids yang in men and promotes fertility in women; Baji Ji supplements marrow and enriches essence; Huluba treats deficiency-cold; Buguzhi revitalizes yang decline; Wubeizi dries yin-dampness; Fuling represents yin within yang; Zhusha calms the heart and facilitates the descent of fire and ascent of water; Longgu secures collapse. Thus, it is taken by those with insufficiency of true qi in the lower origin.
Weixi Pill: Treats men with deficient and exhausted primal yang, insecure essence and qi, post-void dribbling, turbid urine, frequent nocturnal emissions, and women with long-standing cold in the Blood Sea, leukorrhea, white turbidity, chronic dampness in the lower parts, urine resembling rice washings, or infertility.
Ingredients: Huangla (Beeswax, 4 liang), Baifuling (Poria Cocos, peeled, 4 liang cut into blocks, boiled with 2.5 qian of Zhuling [Polyporus] in a porcelain vessel for over twenty boils, then sun-dried; Zhuling is discarded).
Preparation and Administration: Grind Fuling into powder, melt the beeswax, and pound together to form pills the size of marbles. Chew slowly on an empty stomach until saliva is produced, then swallow gradually. Stop when urine becomes clear. Avoid rice vinegar; only bran vinegar is permitted. Especially avoid anger.
Commentary: Among bland flavors, none is more bland than wax; among substances that drain through blandness, none is superior to Poria. Blandness belongs to the Yin of Heaven; when Heavenly Qi descends, Water is generated; when Water is generated, Fire is controlled. Boiling Poria with Polyporus aims to accelerate its draining action; using wax as a binder aims to deepen its descending action. The warning against anger is to caution against aggravating Liver Qi.
Wujin San: Treats fever, dry mouth, painful masses caused by qi attack, and discharge of yellow fluid resembling okra juice from the lower body.
Ingredients: Baicaoshuang (Carbonis herbae, stir-fried), Zijinpi (Bark of unknown source, soaked in rice water, boiled, and stir-fried until yellow), Fencao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted, all in equal proportions).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian mixed with mugwort water or vinegar water on an empty stomach. For gastric discomfort, take with pig blood and salted wine. For leukorrhea, take one carp, remove intestines but keep scales, insert a ball of fried dough into the belly, seal with yellow mud, roast in charcoal until charred but retaining nature, remove mud, grind fish into powder. Take 1 qian mixed with aged wine, administered together with the main powder.
Commentary: Zijinpi moves qi in the blood and disperses blood stasis; Baicaoshuang stops the okra-like discharge and removes yellowness. When qi flows and blood moves, mass-related pain ceases. The妙 (wonder) lies in the equal proportion of Gancao; otherwise, how could it treat fever and dry mouth?
Another Formula: Treats women with long-standing accumulation of deficiency-cold, white turbidity in urine, and involuntary slippery frequency.
Ingredients: Lurong xie (Deer horn shavings, stir-fried until yellow).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take 2 qian mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach. (This formula is simple and direct; long-term use yields better results.)
