According to the *Guangzhou Ji*: It grows in the mountains and wilds of Lingnan. Chen氏 refers to it as "Shihuangxiang" (Stone Yellow Fragrance). Its taste is bitter, its nature is neutral, and it is non-toxic. It primarily treats epidemic febrile diseases (seasonal infectious diseases), can cure wild gu poison and various other toxins, carbuncles, and back abscesses; it is suitable for decoction and oral administration, or soaking in wine to treat wind disorders, and has the effect of lightening the body. (Cited from *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 14, p. 27; *Zhenghe Zhenglei Bencao* p. 349; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 1035)
According to Xu氏: It grows in the Western Sea, Persia region. It resembles the willow tree of China and is frequently used by alchemists. (Cited from *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 14, p. 47; *Zhenghe Zhenglei Bencao* p. 358; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 1411)
According to the *Jiazhou Ji*: It grows in the South Sea region. Its shape resembles the sea palm. Its true name is Coconut (*Cocos nucifera*), about the size of a bowl. The outer layer has a rough skin, similar to Areca catechu seed shell (Da Fu Pi) and Cardamom; inside there is liquid resembling wine, which does not cause intoxication when drunk. It treats Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), hematemesis, edema, and dispels wind-heat. Those from Yunnan are also good quality. When Zhuge Liang campaigned against Yunnan, he ordered soldiers to cut down coconut trees, preventing small states from possessing this exotic item, as excessive consumption disturbs Qi. (Cited from *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 14, p. 35; *Zhenghe Zhenglei Bencao* p. 353; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 1308)
According to the *Lingbiao Lu*: It grows in the valleys of Guangnan. The trunk, bark, and leaves differ slightly from foreign dates and betel nuts, but there are hairs under the leaves, like coarse horse tails, which locals use to weave scarves. The inner part of the bark contains starch-like substance; consuming it greatly benefits those who are extremely weak, emaciated, suffering from deficiency and damage, and having weak waist and legs. Long-term consumption lightens the body and aids in Bigu (grain avoidance). The *Lu Yi Zhi* states that Starch Palm (*Arenga pinnata*) is named thus because of this. (Cited from *Daguan Bencao* Vol. 14, p. 24; *Zhenghe Zhenglei Bencao* p. 348; *Bencao Gangmu* p. 1309)
According to the *Guang Zhi*: It grows in the valleys of Guangnan. The *Lin Hai Zhi* calls it Munuo Tree. It treats floating Qi (water-dampness stagnation Qi). Harvest the bark, boil in water, remove the dregs, and refine repeatedly until it condenses into pills. Take three pills orally on an empty stomach every morning; floating Qi and edema will be discharged via urination. Therefore, Persians use it for building ships.
