Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis), also known as the root of Feng Teng Cao (Wind Vine Grass). It has a bland taste and neutral nature. It drains excess heat from the Small Intestine channel, with immediate efficacy. It clears and promotes urination through the water passages, possessing excellent therapeutic effects. It can reduce edema, relieve the five types of strangury (Wu Lin) and white turbidity, treat urinary retention and closure of the Yu Guan (urethral orifice), and manage symptoms such as sudden onset of fiery eye pain.
Take an unspecified amount of the tender tips of Feng Teng Cao. Wrap them securely in damp paper, and gently roast them over a "Zi Mu Huo" (nested charcoal fire). Squeeze out the juice and apply it to the eyes, ensuring all ash is thoroughly removed.
(Another prescription) For treating urinary obstruction (Niao Jie), which is particularly effective for infants.
Take fresh tender tips of Feng Teng Cao, in any quantity, crush them to extract the juice, remove the dregs, and administer with rice wine. This yields good results.

Feng Teng Cao has a sweet and bitter flavor and a neutral nature. It primarily treats all types of wind-induced itching and pain in the sinews and bones. It nourishes blood, harmonizes blood, disperses blood stasis, and dispels wind while clearing heat. For all types of sores and scabies, bathing in the decoction is most beneficial. Crushed leaves can dissipate swelling and pain caused by sore toxins.
Pie Lan (Brassica rapa var. rapifera), has a pungent and astringent taste. It treats spleen deficiency with hyperactive fire, phlegm retention in the epigastrium, and cold pain in the abdomen. It also treats strangury with turbid urine. It is used for leprosy and scabies, showing immediate effect upon ingestion. Raw consumption stops thirst and resolves phlegm; decocted administration treats lower intestinal bleeding. Burned to ash and powdered, it is blown into the nose to treat rhinorrhea (brain leakage) and nasal ulcers. Blowing powder into the nose also treats aphasia due to stroke. Leaves can be applied topically to malignant sores; the skin is most effective for treating strangury.
