\r六气司天图\pt28a3.bmp\r
\r图\pt28ad.bmp\r
甲己二干,统六十花甲为终始,又以土居中宫,而驭四方,故十干内,惟甲己为君,南面以行令而为南政;
六气司天图 [图片:pt28a3.bmp]

甲年和己年,统领六十个花甲子作为终始循环,又因为土居中宫而驾驭四方,所以在十天干中,只有甲和己属于君象,面向南方行使政令,称为南政;
(Reversal of Cun and Chi positions,指寸尺脉位异常),这是有害的。
(Cun Kou, radial artery at the wrist crease)为上、尺部(Chi position, distal part of the radial pulse)为下,左右手情况相同。
少阴司天,两寸口脉不应指;
厥阴(Jue Yin, Terminal Yin)司天,右寸口脉不应指;
太阴(Tai Yin, Greater Yin)司天,左寸口脉不应指;
少阴在泉,两尺部脉不应指;
厥阴在泉,左尺部脉不应指;
少阴司天,两尺部脉不应指;
厥阴司天,左尺部脉不应指;
太阴司天,右尺部脉不应指;
少阴在泉,两寸口脉不应指;
厥阴在泉,右寸口脉不应指;
Chart of the Six Qi Presiding over Heaven [Image: pt28a3.bmp]
The Qi presiding over heaven (Si Tian) governs the first half of the year, and the Qi issuing from the earth (Zai Quan) governs the second half of the year.
Regarding the position of the Qi issuing from the earth, it is determined by facing south, which is referred to as "left being east and right being west."

The Heavenly Stems Jia (Wood) and Ji (Earth) encompass the sixty Jiazi cycles as their beginning and end. Furthermore, since Earth resides in the Central Palace and commands the four directions, among the Ten Heavenly Stems, only Jia and Ji represent the Sovereign aspect. They face south to issue decrees, thus constituting the Southern Polarity (Nan Zheng).
The remaining eight stems—Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Geng, Xin, Ren, and Gui—all represent the Minister aspect. They face north to receive decrees, thus constituting the Northern Polarity (Bei Zheng). In years of either Southern or Northern Polarity, where Shao Yin (Lesser Yin) is located, the pulse will be "non-responsive" (bu ying). "Non-responsive" refers to a pulse that is deep and thin, failing to reflect the normal pulse characteristics. If non-responsiveness occurs when it should not, or fails to occur when it should, this is termed Yin-Yang Intersection (Yin Yang Jiao), indicating a reversal of the Cun and Chi positions (Cun Chi Fan), which is detrimental.
In years of Southern Polarity, facing south to issue decrees, the Qi is situated in the South. Therefore, South is superior (upper) and North is inferior (lower). The Qi presiding over heaven corresponds to the upper, and the Qi issuing from the earth corresponds to the lower. Human Qi also responds accordingly; thus, the Cun position (distal radial pulse point) is superior and the Chi position (proximal radial pulse point) is inferior. This applies equally to both left and right hands. In the cosmic orientation, the left is West and the right is East. The Right Intercalary Qi corresponds to the Right Cun position.
In years of Northern Polarity, facing north to receive decrees, the Qi is situated in the North. Therefore, North is superior (upper) and South is inferior (lower). The Qi issuing from the earth corresponds to the upper, and the Qi presiding over heaven corresponds to the lower. Human Qi also responds accordingly; thus, the Chi position corresponds to the upper and the Cun position corresponds to the lower. The Qi presiding over heaven corresponds to both Chi positions, and the Qi issuing from the earth corresponds to both Cun positions. Geographically, East is Left; the Left Intercalary Qi is in the West, hence it is Right, and the Right Intercalary Qi corresponds to the Left Cun position. Cosmically, the Left Intercalary Qi corresponds to the Left Chi position, and the Right Intercalary Qi corresponds to the Right Chi position.
Southern Polarity:
- When Shao Yin presides over heaven, both Cun pulses are non-responsive.
- When Jue Yin (Terminal Yin) presides over heaven, the Right Cun pulse is non-responsive.
- When Tai Yin (Greater Yin) presides over heaven, the Left Cun pulse is non-responsive.
- When Shao Yin issues from the earth, both Chi pulses are non-responsive.
- When Jue Yin issues from the earth, the Left Chi pulse is non-responsive.
- When Tai Yin issues from the earth, the Right Chi pulse is non-responsive.
Northern Polarity:
- When Shao Yin presides over heaven, both Chi pulses are non-responsive.
- When Jue Yin presides over heaven, the Left Chi pulse is non-responsive.
- When Tai Yin presides over heaven, the Right Chi pulse is non-responsive.
- When Shao Yin issues from the earth, both Cun pulses are non-responsive.
- When Jue Yin issues from the earth, the Right Cun pulse is non-responsive.
- When Tai Yin issues from the earth, the Left Cun pulse is non-responsive.
