Chen Shigong stated: Tianpao Chuang (Tianpao Blister) is caused by the reckless movement of Heart Fire, with Spleen Dampness following along. There are differences between the upper and lower body, and slight variations depending on cold or hot weather conditions. For lesions on the upper body, Wind-Heat predominates over Damp-Heat, so cooling blood and dispersing Wind is appropriate; for lesions on the lower body, Damp-Heat predominates over Wind-Heat, so promoting diuresis to drain Dampness should be prioritized. If not treated early, it may persist for a long time and transform into stubborn Feng-Xuan (Wind Purpura), which is difficult to cure. (*Zhengzong*)
Shen Douyuan stated: This sore belongs to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. The Lung governs the skin and hair. Due to invasion by Summer-Heat, Heat, and Damp steaming vapors, the entire body erupts with blisters filled with fluid (Liaojiang Baipao), causing unbearable pain, and when the skin breaks, it becomes red and sticky. (*Qixuan*)
Wang Kentang stated: Tianpao Chuang is similar to Dan Du (Erysipelas), but characterized by blisters. It is caused by epidemic Shaoyang Ministerial Fire, hence named Tianpao. It results from Wind-Heat lodging in the skin, unable to vent outward, leading to stagnant heat and blood coagulation forming blisters. They resemble smallpox pustules, with red roots and white heads, or heads with redness, appearing anywhere. If the eruption spreads from inside out during spring and summer, indicating Heat in all three Jiaos, Tongsheng San should be taken. If it starts only from the head, neck, and hands, indicating Heat in the Upper Jiao, Liangge San should be taken. If it starts from below the waist, Huanglian Jiedu Tang combined with Siwu Tang should be taken. If it occurs in autumn and winter, Shengma, Gegen, and Xijiao are suitable, possibly adding Baizhi and Huangqin. Externally, Machixian, Wulan, Chixiaodou, and Zhugen can be applied to detoxify and reduce swelling, suitable for the initial stage. Alternatively, Biejia and Shuilonggu calcined to retain their properties can dry dampness and generate flesh, suitable after the weeping stage. (*Zhunsheng*)
Feng Luzhan stated: There is an epidemic Ban Chuang (Spotted Sore) that spreads over the whole body instantly, covered with white fluid, which is a type of toxic vapor. In the fourth year of Yonghui, this sore flowed from the Western Regions to the interior of China. Simply boiling and eating Malva leaves with garlic could stop it. (*Jinnang*)
