Swallowing a needle into the abdomen: Cook fava beans (Vicia faba) thoroughly, consume them together with raw Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum), and the needle will be expelled through the stool.
Another prescription: Grind oak charcoal (Quercus spp.) into powder, mix with well water, and take 3 qian.
Another prescription: Take one pair of toad eyes, swallow with cold water; the needle will pierce through the eye and be expelled. (In winter when toads are unavailable, search under mulberry roots.)
Another prescription: Mix black sugar cane juice with yellow mud, form into pills, and swallow. The mud wraps the needle, which is then expelled in the stool.
For pain in the throat caused by swallowing a needle tip: Take a ball of hemp fibers, roll it to the size of a longan fruit, thread it with a string leaving an external end, moisten it with hot water, and quickly swallow it into the throat. Pull it out shortly after; the needle will likely be caught in the hemp and removed. If unsuccessful on the first attempt, repeat the process.
Another prescription: Grind magnetite (Lodestone) into powder, form pills the size of cherries using water, swallow them, and immediately administer purgative herbs to facilitate expulsion of the needle via stool.
When a needle has entered the throat and no other remedies are effective: Take several common toads (Bufo bufo gargarizans), remove their heads, hang them upside down to collect blood, gather approximately one cup of blood in a bowl, and pour it into the throat. After some time, the needle will be vomited up along with the blood, becoming soft and curved.
Another prescription: Use old broom bristles that have been carbonized (preserved charred state), grind into powder, take 3 qian per dose, mixed with wine for administration; this can also dissolve or facilitate the removal of the needle.
Another prescription: Mash semi-cooked, sprouted fava beans (Vicia faba), mix with Chinese chive juice to form pills, and swallow.
Another prescription: Swallow a piece of magnetite the size of a jujube pit; the needle will be expelled immediately.
Another prescription: Grind magnetite finely, mix with beeswax to form a shape similar to a needle, swallow with cool water; the wax wraps the needle, which is then expelled in the stool.
Verified prescription: Take old saw teeth from scissors, heat until red-hot, and soak in wine. Burn two female fingernails until they retain their medicinal properties (carbonized), grind into powder, and mix with the previous preparation for oral administration.
Swallowing peach branch or bamboo staff: Simply chew frequently in the mouth and consume plenty of white sugar; the object will gradually dissolve or pass naturally.
Wood splinter lodged in the throat: Administer juice obtained by grinding an iron axe with water.
Bamboo fiber stuck in the throat: Regardless of color, cook black or white sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum), steep in water to drink, then chew and swallow a few mouthfuls of dry sesame seeds. Alternatively, mash raw sesame seeds and chew/swallow.
Verified prescription: Mash fresh radish (Raphanus sativus var. longipinnatus) and swallow; any sharp magnetic fragments will be expelled through the stool.
