Shen Douyuan stated: When adults or children develop sores on the cheeks and chin, with continuous exudation of fluids, it is named "Dugu Chuang" (Solitary Bone Sore). It should be treated with "Baihe San" (Lily Bulb Powder) (from *Qixuan*).
**Baihe San** (from *Qixuan*)
Ingredients: *Lilii Bulbus* (Baihe), *Phellodendri Cortex* (Huangbai) (each 1 liang), *Bletillae Rhizoma* (Baiji) (3 fen), *Calomel* (Qingfen) (5 fen), *Ricini Semen* (Bimaren) (50 grains).
Preparation and Administration: Grind all ingredients into a fine powder and apply externally to the affected area. If the lesion is dry, mix *Natrii Sulfas Crystallizatus* (Piaoxiao) with water to form a paste/biscuit shape and apply as a patch.
Wang Kentang stated: "Ke Yong" (Chin Abscess), also known as "Chengjiang Yong", occurs below the mandibular angle. It is caused by accumulated heat in the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian (from *Zhunsheng*).
Dou Hanqing stated: Abscesses above the chin are generally not caused by wind pathogens. However, abscesses below the chin tend to form fistulas (leaks) and must not be taken lightly (from *Quan Shu*).

Shen Douyuan stated: The Jiache acupoint is located 3 cun below the ear, at the site where the temporomandibular joint moves. An abscess arising here results from anger injuring the Heart, stagnation in the Liver, and excessive accumulation of Wind-Heat, which gathers at Jiache to generate the sore. Prolonged cases often develop into fistulas (from *Qixuan*).
He further stated: "Ke Du Yong" (Chin Toxic Abscess) arises below the cheek, involving the Heart and Kidney meridians. Anger injures the Heart, causing Qi and Blood to stagnate in the blood level, leading to aggregation due to excessive Wind-Heat. Sores above the chin are attributed to Wind-Heat, while those below the chin require vigilance against the formation of fistulous sores; they must not be neglected.
Dou Hanqing stated: "Jia Ju" (Cheek Gangrene) originates from deep-seated bone involvement, also named "Fugu Ju" (Attached-Bone Gangrene). If not treated promptly, it will gradually erode the bone and eventually form a fistula, making it difficult to heal (from *Quan Shu*).
All conditions involving the lips, mouth, upper palate, Feng Ju (Wind Gangrene), and sores/toxins are compiled in this section for easy reference and treatment consultation.
