Tiger Bite
Lei Zhen Jun said: When people are bitten by tigers, blood flows heavily, and the wound ulcerates immediately. The pain is unbearable. Immediately apply fresh pork to the wound; replace it as it melts. Urgently use one jin of Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu), four liang of Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen), and three liang of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix (Sanqi), grind them into an extremely fine powder, and sprinkle it on the wound. Sprinkle continuously as moisture appears; the bleeding will stop immediately, and the pain will subside. This is because Diyu cools the blood, Kushen relieves pain, and Sanqi stops bleeding. Combining the strengths of these three herbs yields miraculous results. (From *Mi Lu*). In general, if a person encounters a tiger, they either die or get injured; if injured, they inevitably ulcerate. A tiger sees a person like a cat seeing a mouse; it first sprays toxic saliva at the person, causing the person to faint and ulcerate.
Chen Yuan Gong said: When a person is injured by a tiger, there is heavy bleeding. Generally, tiger injuries occur mostly on the neck, leaving two deep holes, or sometimes four. These holes turn black almost instantly. Urgently plug them with raw pig fat. If unavailable, fill them with raw pork; replace as it melts, so that the injured flesh does not rot further. Then, urgently buy half a jin of Diyu, grind it into powder, and apply it to the wound; the bleeding will stop instantly. Subsequently, administer herbal decoctions to quench thirst. Since tiger injuries cause heavy bleeding and tigers carry hot toxins that directly attack the heart, severe thirst occurs. As a last resort, allow the patient to drink urine. Urgently administer Zhi Hu Tang (Tiger Injury Decoction): Sanqi root powder and Diyu each 2 liang, Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), and Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) each 3 liang. Decoct in ten bowls of water, and let the patient drink freely; they will lie down peacefully. On the next day, the wound will itch severely; take another dose and lie down again. After five days like this, the sore will heal and close. (From *Bing Jian*. This formula greatly tonifies Qi and Blood to generate tissue, uses Diyu to resolve the hot toxin of tiger injuries, and uses Sanqi root to stop bleeding and contract the wound. Although the ingredients are not exotic, the efficacy is truly miraculous.)
Wang Yu said: For tiger bites, generally consume large amounts of ginger juice, or wash the wound with one's own urine, and apply finely ground alum powder.
