Chen Shigong stated: Sudden swelling and protrusion of the yin orifice accompanied by pain is caused by labor injuring the blood and wind, with damp-heat flowing downward. (From *Zhengzong*)
He also said: There are cases where only half of the yin orifice is painful.
He further stated: Treatment should involve Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Zexie (Alisma Rhizome), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Huafen (Trichosanthis Radix).
Zhu Danxi stated: When the yin orifice suddenly swells and becomes painful, it is named Yinzhong (Yin Swelling), also known as Bengju (Clam Carbuncle). This results from labor injuring the blood aspect. It is suitable to take Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Zexie (Alisma Rhizome), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix) decocted in water. Externally, use Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium) 1 liang, Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) 6 qian, and Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix) 5 qian to decoct a soup for fumigation.
Feng Luzhan stated: Women's yin swelling can be due to deficiency and damage of the uterine collaterals, where wind-cold pathogens lodge and contend with qi and blood causing swelling; or due to depression and anger injuring the Liver and Spleen; or due to excessive sexual activity leading to damp-heat flowing downward; or due to intense desire generating heat that breeds parasites, resulting in simultaneous swelling and itching. All these conditions require abstaining from sexual intercourse and prompt treatment; otherwise, pathogenic factors will gradually strengthen, leading to ulceration of the yin orifice that fails to heal. If qi and blood are deficient, Buyi Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) should be used to lift and raise yang. If there is damp-heat in the Liver channel, Longdan Xiegan Tang (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction) should be used to drain dampness and clear heat. If Liver-Spleen depression and anger cause sinking of primal qi and stagnation of damp-heat, Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) added with Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) should be taken in the morning to resolve depression and tonify Spleen qi. Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) should be taken in the evening to clear Liver fire, generate Liver blood, remove heat, and eliminate dampness.
Pain in the yin orifice: Take 3 he of salt, stir-fry until hot, wrap in cloth, and apply as a compress to stop pain immediately.
Swelling, pain, and sores in the female yin orifice. (From *Jisheng*)
Huanglian (Stir-fried with wine, 2 qian), Longdancao (Rinsed with wine), Xiao Chaihu (Decoction without the rush pith, 1 qian each), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 0.3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. If swelling is severe, add Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 1 qian.
Severe uterine pain unbearable to endure. (From *Rumen*)
Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis), Baijian (Alumen Vitriol) (equal parts). Decoct for fumigation and washing, or grind into powder and sprinkle on the affected area.
Swelling and pain on both sides of the yin orifice after childbirth, with inability to extend hands and feet. (From *Rumen*) Use Congjiu (Allii Tuberosi Bulbus) mixed with Rushiang (Olibanum) powder, pound into a cake, and place on both sides of the yin orifice; it will heal spontaneously after some time.
Hardness of the birth canal like stone, intolerable pain upon touching with clothing.
Qingyu dan (Gallus Bladder of Grass Carp, 7 pieces, or alternatively 7 Gallbladders of Crucian Carp) Simian (Silk floss, 3 qian, burned to retain efficacy). Mix evenly with bile, then apply using a duck feather brush. The hardness will soften within half an hour (one hour).
Swelling and pain of the yin orifice:
Daji (Euphorbiae Pekinensis Radix, 1 liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 2 liang), Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium, 5 qian). Decoct in water, wash while hot avoiding wind, and externally apply Grass Carp bile.
