Acne eruption on the chest is auspicious when sparse and mild; if the lesions cluster and adhere, it indicates condensation of toxic heat. One must promptly use Liangge Gongdu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Attack Toxin Decoction) to prevent malignant toxins from attacking the interior organs.
[Note] The chest and diaphragm are the regions governed by the Heart and Lung meridians. Sparse eruption is a favorable sign. If the lesions cluster here, it is named "Chest Clustering" (Zan Xiong), caused by toxic heat. It should be primarily treated with Liangge Gongdu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Attack Toxin Decoction), so that malignant toxins will not invade inwardly.
Liangge Gongdu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Attack Toxin Decoction)
Gardeniae Fructus (raw) [Zhizi], Coptidis Rhizoma (raw) [Huanglian], Gypsum Fibrosum (raw) [Shigao], Schizonepetae Herba [Jingjie], Violae Herba [Zihua Diding], Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (bran-fried) [Zhike], Platycodonis Radix [Jiegeng], Scrophulariae Radix [Yuanshen], Rehmanniae Radix [Shengdi], Arctii Fructus (fried, crushed) [Niubangzi], Rheomi Radix et Rhizoma [Dahuang], Paeoniae Radix Rubra [Chishao], Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (raw) [Gancao], Menthae Haplocalycis Herba [Bohe], Akebiae Caulis [Mutong].
Add Juncus Effusus [Dengxin] and Phragmitis Rhizoma [Zhuye] as guides, decoct in water, and take orally.
[Prescription Song]: Liangge Gongdu treats Chest Clustering, Zhizi, Huanglian, Shigao, Jingjie, Zihua Diding; Zhike, Jiegeng, Yuanshen, Shengdi, Niubangzi; Dahuang, Chishao, Gancao, Bohe, Mutong.
The morphology of acne in the "Broken Bridge" syndrome is very distinct: there are absolutely no lesions above and below the waist, while the rest of the body is densely distributed. This results from qi and blood obstruction and toxic heat stagnation; using vigorous purgative methods to promote eruption is auspicious.
[Note] Acne named "Broken Bridge" refers to the complete absence of any lesions on the waist, with density only at the upper and lower parts of the body. This occurs because malignant toxins stagnate in the upper and lower regions, while qi and blood are blocked in the middle jiao (Spleen and Stomach), causing a separation between upper and lower, thus forming the most severe syndrome. It is suitable to use Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) for aggressive treatment, allowing lesions to emerge in the area without them, thereby transforming into an auspicious outcome.
The waist is the external indicator of the Kidney; acne should be sparse. If they surround the waist like a string of beads, how should this be managed? Treatment should focus on attacking toxins without delay; urgently administering Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) can eliminate the illness.
[Note] The waist is the external manifestation of the Kidney, and acne should be sparse. If the lesions surround the waist like connected pearls, it is called "Waist Coiling" (Chan Yao), indicating toxin latent in the Kidney. Treatment prioritizes attacking toxins, and Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) is appropriate.
