I have examined medical literature from ancient and modern times, thoroughly understanding myriad diseases, yet the condition of Sha (a traditional Chinese disease concept often associated with heat-toxin or stagnation) remained unclear. Consequently, its transmission was rare, despite the fact that patients suffering from it were ubiquitous in society. Since this disease exists, one cannot but seek a method to treat it. Therefore, I recorded all the therapeutic methods I had verified as effective, along with the etiology of the symptoms. In the year of Jiayin, I authored the book *Yuheng* (Jade Balance), which was reviewed and revised together with my colleagues. It was published hastily, driven by an unavoidable compassion for saving lives. The discussions on Sha theory within the book seemed quite detailed; however, over the past two years, the变幻 (changes/variations) of Sha have become more complex, with some cases lying latent within other diseases, causing the most harm. These are not unfamiliar to the world, nor were they covered in my previous work. Hence, *Shake* (Sha Carvings/Notes) was produced as a sequel. This collection primarily compiles unique therapeutic experiences based on contemporary afflictions. It was discussed with colleagues, and I dare not boast of it. I hope the world will not overlook it due to its length.

── If any statement is untrue or any treatment ineffective, not a single word is recorded.
── If any herb is inappropriate or its usage unclear, not a single ingredient is included.
── Treatments are prescribed according to symptoms, and formulas are formulated appropriately; non-Sha conditions are not recorded.
── Pulse diagnosis and observation of sinews are described in detail with evidence to prevent misinterpretation.
── For scarification of Sha sinews, only purple-black toxic blood is documented as empirical evidence.
── Miscellaneous diseases are recorded only when accompanied by Sha; the deficiency or excess of other diseases is omitted.
── Cases of abdominal Sha pain cured immediately by scraping or bloodletting, requiring no further medication, are not heavily emphasized.
── Therapeutic validations are limited to a few examples; only representative treatment methods are outlined, without excessive elaboration.
── As my constitution is naturally weak, the dosages in my formulas are reduced to achieve efficacy. Although shared widely, I dare not increase the dosages arbitrarily.
── The dosages in the formulas are small. However, in the northwest regions where the wind is high and the soil dry, for robust and vigorous individuals, the dosages must be doubled, or even tripled, to be effective.
── Rules for drinking decoctions: "Slightly cool" means nine parts cold to one part warm; "Micro-cool" means eight parts cold to two parts warm; "Micro-warm" means three-quarters cold to one-quarter warm.
