The *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine) states: After moxibustion, the ancients avoided consuming pork, fish, hot noodles, raw alcohol, wind-aggravating foods, and cold items; chicken meat is considered most toxic. However, in modern practice, when a moxa sore fails to suppurate (failure of moxa sore to erupt), some individuals consume small chickens or silver carp to induce suppuration. This aligns with the principle of "treating poison with poison," which is logically sound, though it is advisable to use such methods sparingly.
After moxibustion, one must strictly avoid wind and cold, moderate alcohol consumption, and abstain from sexual exertion. One should eliminate emotional disturbances caused by the Seven Emotions (joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear, and fright). It is beneficial to reside in a quiet and secluded place for recuperation; however, this advice need not be explained to ordinary people.
Auspicious days for acupuncture and moxibustion include Dingmao, Gengwu, Ji Xu, Bingzi, Ding Chou, Ren Wu, Jia Shen, Bing Xu, Ding Hai, Xin Mao, Ren Chen, Wu Xu, Ji Hai, Geng Zi, Xin Chou, Jia Chen, Yi Si, Bing Wu, Wu Shen, Ren Zi, Gui Chou, Yi Mao, Bing Chen, Ji Wei, and Ren Xu days, as well as the "Cheng" (Establishment), "Kai" (Open), and "Zhi" (Hold) days of the Twelve Day Officers.
