Agarwood, Clove, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Moschus (Musk), Benzoin, Cyperi Rhizoma (Cyperus Rotundus), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Atractylodes), Borneol, Long Pepper, Chebula Terminalia (Terminalia Chebula), Cinnabar, Rhinoceros Horn, and Styrax Liquid Resin (each in equal parts).
Due to wind pathogen or qi rebellion, causing blindness or strabismus, with excessive phlegm foam in the throat and difficulty swallowing fluids,
only pungent, aromatic, warm, and hot herbs can open the orifices and restore yang. Therefore, these aforementioned herbs are collected. The necessity of using Cinnabar, Chebula Terminalia, and Rhinoceros Horn is to prevent the excessive dryness of damp-heat from consuming heart blood, and to prevent the dispersing nature of pungent aromatics from depleting true qi, thereby astringing lung fluids. It is also suitable for cold strike or evil qi strike. However, it ultimately consumes the primordial spirit and stirs internal wind; it should be kept only for emergency rescue, and one must strictly warn against frequent use.

Arisaema cum Bile (2 liang), Tianshu Huang (1 liang), Cinnabar (5 qian), Amber, Pearl, Realgar (each 3 qian), Sandalwood, Ginseng (each 2 qian), Moschus (Musk), Agarwood (each 1 qian). Made into pills with licorice decoction paste, size of Euryale Seed, coated with gold leaf.
For all kinds of convulsions and tremors in children, leading to symptoms such as upward deviation of the eyes and abnormal eye movements, this formula is indicated. The "treasure qi" can calm fright, referring to Pearl, Amber, and Realgar; the aroma can disperse spasms, referring to Agarwood, Sandalwood, Costus Root, Moschus (Musk), and Tianshu Huang; since the convulsions are due to wind deficiency, Ginseng and Licorice support the primal qi; since wind deficiency generates phlegm-fire, Arisaema cum Bile and Bovis Calculus clear the heat. The meaning of "Bao Long" is unclear; perhaps "Long" refers to liver fire, and "Bao Long" means to settle wind and calm fright.

Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Ligusticum Chuanxiong), Rehmanniae Radix (Rehmannia), Paeoniae Radix Alba (White Peony Root), Scutellariae Radix (Scutellaria), Akebia Caulis (Akebia), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Cimicifuga), Cinnabar, Poria (Poria cocos), Licorice (each in equal parts).
When infantile smallpox has appeared in shape but suddenly triggers convulsions, red eyes, photophobia, and tearing, this formula is indicated.
Since the smallpox rash has appeared, the heat should gradually subside. The recurrence of convulsions accompanied by eye disease clearly indicates an excess of both Wood (Liver) and Fire (Heart). Therefore, Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Rehmanniae Radix, and Paeoniae Radix Alba are used to cool blood and pacify Liver Wood; Scutellariae Radix, Cimicifugae Rhizoma, and Akebia Caulis guide out heart fire through the bladder channel. Cinnabar, Poria, and Licorice are specifically used to calm fright and stop tearing. However, the onset of this condition is perilous; if symptoms do not diminish after one or two doses, careful attention is required.
