心经实热者，两大眼角有外现红丝，渐入白睛，
瘀血堆不散。洗赛空青、白玉锭。

木通（二钱）、生地（三钱，用酒洗）、丹皮（二钱，用酒洗）、犀角末（一钱）、生甘草（一钱），加竹叶（九片）。
用水煎煮服用。外用洗小枣儿、矾连膏清洗眼部。
心经实热的患者，两大眼角有外现的红丝，逐渐侵入白睛，瘀血堆积不散。可用洗赛空青、白玉锭清洗。
Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis, stir-fried with wine), Lian Qiao (Fructus Forsythiae), Bo He (Herba Menthae), Zhi Zi (Fructus Gardeniae, stir-fried), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (each 1 qian), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (3 fen).
Decoct in water, take warm after meals. Apply Yuan Ling Dan externally to the eyes.
(Indicated for sudden onset of redness and swelling of the eyes; use within two to three days or five to seven days after onset.)
Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Sheng Di (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Chi Shao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Gui Wei (Cauda Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chi Fu Ling (Poria Cocos with Red Cortex), Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Xi Xin (Herba Asari), Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Sang Bai Pi (Cortex Mori), Gan Ju (Flos Chrysanthemi), Gu Jing Cao (Herba Eyebright), Sheng Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (each 1 qian for Huang Lian, Sheng Di, Chi Shao, Gui Wei, Chi Fu Ling, Fang Feng, Xi Xin; each 2 qian for Da Huang, Sang Bai Pi; each 3 qian for Gan Ju, Gu Jing Cao, Sheng Gan Cao).
Grind into powder, take 3 qian per dose, decoct in water and drink.
(Appropriate for early stage of disease; if prolonged, heat-toxin may hide in the meridians and form nebulae.)

(Treats inverted eyelashes with redness and erosion, and epidemic acute conjunctivitis; effective for both.)
Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Sheng Di (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Chi Shao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Gan Ju (Flos Chrysanthemi), Dan Cao (Radix Gentianae), Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Fang Ji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Xiang Fu (Rhizoma Cyperi), Jue Ming Zi (Semen Cassiae), Mi Meng Hua (Flos Dicranopteridis), Mu Zei (Herba Equiseti Hiemalis), or add Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis).
Decoct in water, take well after meals. In addition to Sai Bao Dan, all other eye-dropping preparations can be used.
(Used when nebulae have just formed, are tender, and fire is excessive.)

Decoct in water, take well after meals. Apply Sao Wu Dan externally to the eyes.
(Used for chronic eye diseases accompanied by red filaments, floating nebulae, and symptoms resembling thin mist.)
Sheng Di (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis), Mu Zei (Herba Equiseti Hiemalis), Gan Ju (Flos Chrysanthemi), Dan Cao (Radix Gentianae), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Yu Jin (Rhizoma Curcumae), Xuan Fu Hua (Capitium Inulae), Qing Xiang Zi (Semen Celosiae), Bai Ji Li (Fructus Tribuli), Chan Tui (Periostracum Cicadae) (equal parts).
Decoct in water, take warm. Apply Yuan Ling Dan and Zhi Bao Dan externally to the eyes.
(Treats excess-heat syndrome of the Heart Meridian)
Mu Tong (Caulis Akebiae) (2 qian), Sheng Di (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, washed with wine) (3 qian), Dan Pi (Cortex Moutan, washed with wine) (2 qian), Xi Jiao Mo (Cornu Rhinocerotis Powder) (1 qian), Sheng Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (1 qian), add Zhu Ye (Folium Bambusae) (9 leaves).
Decoct in water and drink. Wash eyes with Xiao Zao Er and Fan Lian Gao.
Patients with excess-heat syndrome of the Heart Meridian present with visible red filaments at the two large canthi, gradually invading the sclera, with accumulated blood stasis that does not dissipate. Wash with Sai Kong Qing and Bai Yu Ding.
