On Wind-Evil Entering the Blood Chamber, on Treating Diseases of Shameful/Hidden Parts, Worms Inside the Yin, and Sores on the Yin Gate.
The Heavenly Master said: The diseases of the meridians in women are largely treated the same as in men; however, one must be particularly aware of conditions related to the menstrual cycle, and even more attentive to diseases occurring in shameful or hidden parts. Before and after menstruation, whether presenting with cold, heat, warmth, or coolness, and regardless of the presence or absence of external pathogens, careful differentiation is required. There are specialists in this field in the world, so there is no need to list them all. Today, I will discuss only one specific condition. For instance, if a woman is menstruating and suddenly suffers from an attack by cold wind, her menstrual flow will inevitably stop abruptly. Since the menstrual blood cannot exit externally, it will necessarily transform into alternating chills and fever, with episodes of body tremors followed by cooling of the body, hallucinations of seeing ghosts and spirits, and mental palpitations with fright.
Regarding treatment methods, one should originally puncture the Qimen acupoint (Qimén, the Front-Mu point of the Liver meridian); once bleeding occurs, the illness will cease immediately. However, worldly people are unwilling to have needles inserted below the breast due to shame and reluctance to expose themselves to the physician, causing the condition to worsen and develop into manic speech and delirium. This is the origin of such progression. I now prescribe a formula to treat this. The formula consists of Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) 3 qian, Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 2 qian, Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 5 qian, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) 2 qian, Chao Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, stir-fried) 3 qian, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 1 qian, Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) 0.5 qian, and Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) 2 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. The brilliance of this formula lies in using Chaihu within the context of Baishao. In the aforementioned condition, since menstrual blood cannot exit, it accumulates within the Blood Chamber (Xueshi, referring to the uterus and associated Chong and Ren vessels). When stored and not released, the blood transforms into heat, and Qi becomes stagnant and constrained, lodging between the exterior and interior (Ban Biao Ban Li), thereby generating various bizarre symptoms. Chaihu is a herb that specifically targets the half-exterior, half-interior level. Using Baishao allows direct entry into the Blood Chamber to peacefully resolve the stagnation. This is akin to someone hiding within the 'blood residence' out of shame; one must send a trusted person to enter, provide guidance and unblocking, after which others can break through the door. Only then can harmony be restored with a smile, the body heals, and disaster vanishes. The principle behind this formula is identical to this analogy, hence I use this metaphor for clarification, not merely for rhetorical flourish. As for other diseases of shameful parts, they cannot be exhaustively listed here; one should consult specialized texts, inquire carefully about the patient's condition, and modify the prescription according to symptoms for effective treatment.
Master Zhang said: The discussion is unique and unconventional. I have further to say: "Heat entering the Blood Chamber" is not purely heat; rather, it is heat caused by the congestion of wind-evil. Therefore, dispersing with Chaihu leads to recovery.
The shameful parts of women are difficult to mention explicitly, but generally, they involve either cold or heat. Here is a trial formula. Use Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) 3 qian, Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 3 qian, Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) 1 qian, Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) 5 qian, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 1 qian, Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) 1 qian, Baijiezi (Brassicae Semen) 1 qian, Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) 0.3 qian, and Paojiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum) 0.3 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. If there are issues in the shameful parts that the patient refuses to state explicitly, administering this formula will surely yield miraculous results. Ask the patient if they feel calmer and better than before after taking the medicine; if so, it is a deficiency syndrome, and Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) should be used directly for treatment. If there is no improvement, it indicates that a heat pathogen is causing the disturbance; adding Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) 3 qian to the formula will ensure efficacy. This is also a brilliant method, and practitioners should learn of it promptly.
Master Hua said: There are two additional treatment methods for women that have not yet been transmitted; let me supplement them. Worms inside the female yin result from damp-heat. Using chicken liver mixed with herbal powder as a guide is also effective. However, it is not as miraculous as the Master's formula. The formula consists of earthworms (Qiu Yin, Quyi) 3–4 pieces, dried by roasting and ground into powder; scallions (Cong Bai) several stalks, dried by roasting over fire and ground into powder; and one bowl of honey. Boil until it forms a paste, mix the herbal powders into it, and insert it into the vagina. The worms will die completely and naturally pass out with urine. This is a divine prescription. People are unaware of it; please pay attention.
Furthermore, for sores appearing at the edge of the female yin gate, accompanied by incessant itching and pain, wash the area with the decoction of this formula for immediate effect. The formula consists of Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) 1 liang, Huajiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) 3 qian, and Baifan (Alumen) 3 qian. Use ten bowls of water, decoct until five bowls remain. Steam the affected area while hot, and wash when the temperature is suitable. Itching stops after the first wash, pain ceases after the second, and full recovery occurs after the third. Divide this course over five days, washing once per day. The effect is extremely miraculous; cherish it.
