I, the author, share the same hometown with Mr. Chen Yuan and have a spiritual connection with him. Upon accidentally obtaining this manuscript, I read it and marveled at its miraculous nature; thus, I hastened to have it printed to benefit the world. Mr. Chen was well-versed in the classics and history, with his literary talent flowing like a spring. His discussions, spanning thousands of words, were delivered in a fluent and engaging manner without end. Since the original intention of this book was to save lives rather than to display ornate rhetoric, I feared that an overemphasis on literary style might obscure its true purpose. Therefore, I made slight deletions and revisions to ensure that both refined and common readers could understand it at a glance. However, regarding the formulation of prescriptions and the selection of herbs, I dared not add or remove a single character, trusting that those who truly understand me will not hold this against me.
