This is the previous formula (Da Xuming Decoction) with Licorice Root removed and Scutellariae Radix added. After decocting, strain the dregs, add Jingshi (Ampelopsis japonica juice), boil for a few more turns, and divide into four doses. If the patient can speak but the condition has not resolved, subsequently administer Xiao Xuming Decoction. The ancient formulas did not contain Jingshi; it was added later, and its efficacy is miraculous. *Qianjin Yifang* records that it contains Gancao (Licorice Root).
This is Da Xuming Decoction with Ginseng removed, Ephedrae Herba and Gypsum Fibrosum doubled, and Scutellariae Radix (1 liang, reduced dose), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, and Zingiberis Rhizoma (each 1 liang) added. It treats wind-stroke invading the interior, resulting in inability to close the mouth, aphasia, mental confusion and failure to recognize people, limb stiffness, shoulder pain, and inability to turn or side. If the patient can barely maintain self-awareness, do not allow them to sleep deeply in bed; cover them thickly to induce slight sweating. After sweating, gradually reduce the covering so they may sleep soundly. For those who did not sweat after the previous administration, administer another sheng. After sweating, if symptoms subside slightly, combine five he into one dose for stable administration; do not take it all at once. If sweating has occurred, do not administer again. It is contraindicated for emaciated persons; it is best to give only a small amount of five he. Hu Qia, Wen Zhong, *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*, *Zhouhou Fang*, and *Qianjin Fang* record the same.
This is Da Xuming Decoction with Zingiberis Rhizoma, Gypsum Fibrosum, and Angelicae Sinensis Radix removed, and Paeoniae Radix, Scutellariae Radix (eight herbs each 1 liang), Saposhnikoviae Radix (1.5 liang), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (one piece), and Zingiberis Recens Rhizoma (5 liang) added. *Waitai Miyao* records the same. *Duanju Fang* and *Qianjin Yifang* contain Paeoniae Radix (1 liang). *Shenshi Fang* and *Gujin Luyan* contain Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (1 liang) and lack Armeniacae Semen Amarum. One version of *Luyan* contains Angelicae Sinensis Radix and Gypsum Fibrosum. Another version lacks Cinnamomi Ramulus, named Xuming Tang. *Jiufang* lacks Chuanxiong Rhizome and Armeniacae Semen Amarum. *Yannian Fang* lacks Saposhnikoviae Radix. Liang Qing’s *Defang Fang* contains Poria, Asari Radix, Dictamni Cortex, and Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, lacking Paeoniae Radix and Scutellariae Radix. One version in *Qianjin Fang* lacks Ginseng, Paeoniae Radix, and Armeniacae Semen Amarum, but contains Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Puerariae Radix, Asari Radix, and Poria. It treats sudden wind-stroke approaching death, with body flaccidity or stiffness, facial paralysis (mouth and eyes deviated), tongue stiffness preventing speech, mental agitation and confusion. It is effective for various wind disorders and does not cause deficiency.
According to *Waitai Miyao*: I formerly served as Yuanwailang of the Ministry of Revenue when I suddenly contracted wind-rash. I took this decoction. Within three years, I consumed forty-six doses, and the wind disorder has not recurred to this day. I once served... [text missing]
