Taste is sweet, nature is slightly cold. It primarily treats various diseases of the five Zang organs in the body. It nourishes the spirit (Shen), calms the soul (Hun) and魄 (Po), supplements primordial Qi (Yuan Qi), brightens the eyes, and eliminates demons, evil spirits, and malevolent ghosts. Long-term consumption leads to spiritual clarity and immortality. It can be transformed into Mercury (Shuiyin). It grows in mountain valleys.
The superior medicine from Fuling is first recorded as Cinnabar (Dansha). It condenses true essence to regulate Qi, wards off bewitchment, and drives away evil. Its liquid generates Golden Elixir (Jinye), shining brilliantly like vermilion clouds. It is suitable for family longevity and well-being. The Liao Well is clear and magnificent.
Famous physicians state: It grows in Fuling. *Wei Shu Zhuan Zhu* records: Ji Kang collected and used this superior medicine. *Shuo Wen Jie Zi* explains: Cinnabar is the red stone of Yue. Li Bei records: Condensing true essence in Pingu Valley. Zhang's poem states: In hunger and thirst, one only relies on regulating Qi. *Zuo Zhuan* mentions: To ward off mountain ghosts (Chimei). *Qimin Yaoshu* records: To drive away all evils. *Guanzi* records: Where there is Cinnabar on the mountain, there is Gold underneath. *Nan Shi Zhuan* records: Liu resembles half a vermilion cloud in the sky. *Yi Lin* records: Longevity and suitability for home life. *Baopuzi* records: The Liao clan of Linyuan enjoyed generational longevity. Their well water was red; digging revealed dozens of hu of Cinnabar.
Taste is sweet, nature is neutral. It primarily treats dead skin and muscle tissue, wind-stroke with alternating cold and heat, feeling as if riding in a cart or boat. It removes evil Qi, calms the five Zang organs, benefits Jing (Essence) and brightens the eyes. Long-term consumption makes the body light and extends lifespan. Also known as Yunzhu, Yunhua, Yunying, Yunye, Yunsha, and Yushi. It grows in mountain valleys.
Xiaoqing is not cloud; nurturing children is like a mother. The season is mid-spring; ascending the high hills of Qi. The five colors shine mutually, receiving the changes of the four seasons. It gathers the essence of the earth and remains intact, imperishable even in complete form.
The Qi Yu Sacrifice Song sings: Not cloud, Xiaoqing. *Guangya* explains: Mother implies nurturing, meaning to raise children. Famous physicians state: It grows in Mount Tai, Qilushan, and Beiding in Langya. There are five types of Mica (Yunmu), possessing all five colors. Those rich in green are suitable for spring consumption; those rich in red for summer; those rich in black for winter; those with only green and yellow for late summer (Jixia); those that are crystal clear and pure white can be taken throughout the four seasons. *Bashu Yiwuzhi* records: Mica is also called Yunjing; it does not rot even after ten thousand years underground.
Taste is sweet, nature is neutral. It primarily treats diseases of the five Zang organs, softens tendons and strengthens bones, calms Hun and Po, promotes muscle growth, and supplements Qi. Long-term consumption enables resistance to cold and heat, prevents hunger and thirst, and leads to immortality. If taken at five jin before death, the body remains unchanged in color for three years after death. Also known as Yutao. (*Chuxueji* cites "Yutao", *Taiping Yulan* cites the same, suspected to be correct). It grows in mountain valleys.
Yang essence conceives jade; fine powder dissolves hardness. It repels water and overcomes fire; its brilliance clarifies mountains and rivers. Thickened and mixed with elm-brewed wine, washed with scallum juice. Used as offerings for sacrificial fasting meals; White Guanzhang extended hospitality.
*Zhou Li Zhu* explains: Jade is the purest part of Yang essence. Wu Pu said: Yuquan is also known as Yuxie. *Baopuzi* records: After taking it for more than one year, entering water does not wet it, entering fire does not burn it. Obtaining white jade from Khotan is especially good. Dissolve it using Wumi wine and Sanguisorba officinalis (Diuyu) wine into water; or dissolve it into a viscous paste using scallum juice. Lu Ji's fu states: When stones contain jade, the mountains shine. *Tang Shu Zhuan* records: Zheng Lan shone like auspicious jade, calm like a clear river. *Zhou Li* records: The king offers jade food during fasting. *Shilei Fu* records: The texture of white jade is like that of a white-haired elder.
