Treats various eye diseases.
Chi Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, two liang) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, one liang) Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis, two liang) Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex, two liang) Long Dan Cao (Gentianae Radix, two liang) Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, two liang)
Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, two liang) Dang Gui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, caudal part, two liang) Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, eight qian) Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, six qian)
The above herbs are cut into small pieces. Take five qian per dose, add one and a half lamps of water, along with a small amount of freshly obtained Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex), decoct until eight-tenths remains, and take after meals. If the eyes are red with thick nebulae, add Sheng Bang Fen (Concha Margaritifera); for pain and swelling, adding Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix) is effective.
Eye drops: Xuan Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) is washed clean and chopped finely, quantity not restricted. Decoct in a pottery vessel with water until half remains, filter out the dregs, place in a pottery cup on top of a hot water pot, steam it, ensuring no dust or debris falls inside.
Treats sudden onset of redness, ulceration, and dizzy eyes.
Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, five qian) Dang Gui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, caudal part, three qian) Po Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, three qian) Ban Xing (Prunus armeniaca seed, two qian) Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, two qian) Chuan Xu Duan (Dipsaci Radix, one qian)
Chop finely, place in a cup on top of a hot water pot, steam heavily, dip while hot to absorb the juice, and apply into the eyes.
Another method: Treat red eyes and blurred pain. Keep eyes tightly closed without opening. Place a container of hot water, scoop water with hands and splash onto the eyes. Stop when the water cools. Frequent splashing brings relief; the key lies in keeping the eyes closed.
For treating nebulae and various eye conditions, use ten liang of pure Po Xiao (Natrii Sulfas). Soak in hot water, hold in a bamboo sieve lined with good paper to filter. Place in a pottery bowl and dry over charcoal fire.
For red eyes, decoct Bo He (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Spica), and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) in a pottery bottle. Inhale the steam while hot, and simultaneously wash with hands using the liquid.
Cao Wu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix) weighing six liang, slightly peel off skin and remove tips, grind into powder. Mix with two liang of raw tofu, pound into a cake. Boil in boiling water until it floats, then remove upon re-boiling. The boiling process requires careful judgment. Over-boiling weakens the medicinal power, while under-boiling makes it too potent.
Additionally, use Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) soaked in rice washing water, dried by roasting (three liang), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, one liang, pure), and Quan Xie (Scorpio, half liang, washed free of soil, lightly stir-fried). Grind together with the Cao Wu cake into powder.
The sensation of numbness indicates its efficacy.
