**Sè Yì Nèi Zhàng (Opaque Cataract with Slow Onset):**
When this eye disease first occurs, vision is hazy as if covered by light smoke or thin mist. It gradually leads to blindness, typically starting in one eye and then affecting the other. Although characters cannot be distinguished, the patient can still perceive the "Three Lights" (sun, moon, and stars). The opacity resembles the color of congealed fat, and the pupil remains regular in shape. It is suitable for treatment via gold needle cataract extraction (Jīn Zhēn Zhēn Zhī). After performing the needle procedure, administering Huán Jīng Sǎn (Restore Vision Powder) and Qī Bǎo Wán (Seven Treasures Pill) yields immediate efficacy.
Poem:
The onset of opaque cataracts is slow, affecting the eyelids;
Yin and Yang imbalances are slight, yet significant.
Observing the pupil, the color resembles congealed fat;
Do not doubt the words left by ancient sages.
When extracting this opacity, follow these methods strictly;
Using the needle three to five times is not too late.
Securely bandage for seven days to promote healing;
Rest diligently, do not deceive yourself.
**Huán Jīng Sǎn (Restore Vision Powder):**
* Jié Gěng (Platycodonis Radix), Wǔ Wèi Zǐ (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Chōng Wèi Zǐ (Erythrostachyidis Fructus), Hēi Shēn (Adenophorae Radix), Huáng Qín (Scutellariae Radix): each 1 liang.
* Fáng Fēng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Zhī Mǔ (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma): each 2 liang.
* Chē Qián Zǐ (Plantaginis Semen), Xì Chá (Fine Tea): each 2.5 liang.
Pulverize the above ingredients. Take one qian of the powder, boil in one cup of water until reduced to half a cup. Strain and take warm after meals.
**Qī Bǎo Wán (Seven Treasures Pill):**
* Lóng Nǎo (Borneolum Syntheticum): 1 fen.
* Rén Shēn (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma): 1 liang.
* Zhēn Zhū (Margarita): 5 qian.
* Shí Jué Míng (Haliotidis Concha): 2 liang (separately pulverized finely).
* Hǔ Pò (Amber), Qīng Yú Dǎn (Cyprini Carassii Vesica Uritiva), Xióng Dǎn (Ursi Fel): each 2 liang.
* Chōng Wèi Zǐ (Erythrostachyidis Fructus): 2 liang.
Pulverize the above ingredients. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take ten pills before meals with tea.
**Sàn Yì Nèi Zhàng (Dispersed Opaque Cataract):**
This eye disease begins without itching or pain, leading to gradual blindness. It also starts in one eye first. There is an opacity within the pupil, appearing alternately blue and white. Characters cannot be distinguished, but the "Three Lights" are still visible. This condition is suitable for gold needle cataract extraction. Subsequently, administering Huán Jīng Sǎn (Restore Vision Powder) and Bǔ Gān Tāng (Liver-Nourishing Decoction) is effective.
Poem:
What is the nature of dispersed opacities?
Their shape resembles butter spots ruining the countenance.
After needle extraction, mix with saliva-based paste;
Clarity will return naturally, known only to oneself.
Careful wrapping and preservation require skill;
Do not cause the patient to harbor doubts.
Diligently administer Restore Vision Powder to the eyes;
Within a hundred days, the Three Lights shall be seen again.
Observe dietary restrictions as strictly as religious precepts;
Do not indulge in greed or excess.
These profound words are urgent;
Remember the time of deep darkness.
